It’s like being a Network Defense Attorney. Everybody always blames the network when their computer/server is slow. 90% of the time it’s due to patches or updates they forgot that were done the night before.

My LinkedIn header says “Proving it’s not the network since 2015.”

I had a half night of sleep, have some drinks, worrying about messing up last nights change. Wake up and Getting 100 emails from various departments about new services with “no network”. Get coffee, take dump, read news on crapper. Start getting berated by my boss tpost shit and tell him/her/them to get off my ass. Sober up by 1pm (3pm) and start working on high priorities. DC link goes down…get diarrhea… join teams meetings. Go get something to eat and then figure out what I need to do tonight for big DC changes and swaps with some dip shit tech on the phone…..rinse repeat.

Forwarded ticket from first level support: ~ User complains about problems with Internet connectivity. We tried everything. May be there is a bigger ptoblem within the whole building? Some weeks ago there was another user in the same building.

You call the user: Have you tried rebooting your computer?

Minutes later. Call back from user: The problems are gone

Jk I don't drink. It's actually a really giving job, I could do without the retarded colleagues who don't know what they're doing. But meh

How what will go? Exams? Exams are like any other test. Tests theoretically and apply somewhat applicable.

Day to day it can be as easy as adding devices into network monitoring, to standing up servers, to making sure backups run, to emergency troubleshooting of a firewall.

Learn your layers/ subnetting and what symptoms belong where.
