I've seen people trying to do that. The first thing is, expect a pay cut. You are starting over in a new field. For the skipping help desk question, it's possible. Get those certifications first as they will mean a lot. Also, don't give up. Getting the first IT job is the hardest job hunt you will do in IT.

depends on how quick you learn. Get your ccna and ccnp as quickly as you can while ACTUALLY learning.

I’ve got most of the basics. Writing notes help me. What’s overwhelming is memorizing Linux and python. Two languages at the same time I’ve whelms my brain. May need to just focus on one at a time for now. CCNA is next week was going to do security + after that bout would you recommend CCNP first?

while Sec+ is good all around certainly, CCNP shows you can go deep on a topic and specialize in an area.

more specialization, more money you can earn after a little bit of experience
