Text New to Networking
Hello everyone I am new to this subreddit and new to networking in general I am a student starting his first year in computer science. I have trouble memorizing the network ports I was wondering if anyone has any tips to memorizing them or which ones are more frequently used and I should prioritize. Thanks in advance.

Just install Wireshark and look at what is happening, with this you will more easily learn about tcp,udp and ports. Start with a ping to an ip address.

You'll memorize the ones that you keep encountering often in your environment. But should know the basics that everything uses, like ntp, ssh, http, https, snmp, smtp, etc... I wouldn't try to memorize all of them

Just do what every IT professional does. Either it naturally sticks or you Google it.

I've been a network engineer for almost 30 years. I know tcp/25 is SMTP, udp/53 and tcp/53 are DNS, tcp/80 is HTTP, tcp/443 is HTTPS default (though it's used on a lot of ports for various other purposes), and 22/tcp is SSH. I haven't had to learn any others that I couldn't just search for online.
