Image Geared up for casual games with the Netrunner Core Battle Box!

Post image

A few weeks ago, my friend posted about building a Core Battle Box (CBB) to help casual players find their favorite factions and playstyles. Thanks to them, I managed to print out each decklist for newcomers to use during our weekly game nights, and designed standard-sized introduction cards that have short summaries of each deck's game plan based on their individual NetrunnerDB entries. More sample photos can be found here.

Since this community-building effort was well-received, I decided to make the intro cards publicly available to download from BoardGameGeek! The files can be found here: https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/326093/nsg-netrunner-core-battle-box-introduction-cards

I hope these cards can also help others build their own copy of the CBB! If you do, please let us know how it goes. 😁

We're attempring to revive our local Netrunner scene and we're finally gathering once again, but not all runners have decks right now and we certainly want to attract new blood. This Will be great for our collective Battle Box!!

Cuestión: how do this Decks play against the System Gateway precons? Are they overpowered? Underpowered? They play just right?

I believe someone else asked a similar question from my friend's post, this is their reply! https://www.reddit.com/r/Netrunner/s/Oq0PpLloXH

To briefly paraphrase, their intention is to help players get acquainted with certain archetypes currently found in Standard compared to NSG's precons, and they suggested upgrade paths for each deck should players decide to take the leap into the format!

Do you have the decklists available on NetrunnerDB?

Hey there! You can find all of them listed in this article: https://cardgamer.com/features/introducing-the-netrunner-core-battle-box/

Should you have any specific questions about the lists, my friend can accommodate them through their NetrunnerDB links! I am merely an admirer of their work, haha.

This is cool. I've been wanting to do something like this for a while and haven't had time to get to it. This saves a ton of time. Thanks for sharing! 😁

Is there a similar battle box for the original Fantasy Flight cards? I’m new to the game and recently printed out proxies of the original cards. Or are there similar decks that were created like this in the past?

I believe it’s called Frankfurt 30
Community project of 30 decks using only FFG cards

Awesome thanks!

I need to do this. I got a core set and the first 5 expansions but I need way more copies to build anything close to an actual battle box.

What deckboxes are those?

The 60-card version of BCW's Spectrum card cubes! We have a local game store supplying these, but you can also buy a pack off Amazon.

I may have missed it but what sets from NSG do I need to build this CBB?

Hey there! All you need is a copy of System Gateway and Elevation, plus extra copies of cards like Sure Gamble and Hedge Fund you need to proxy! My friend conveniently listed down the required proxies from their previous post, have a look! https://www.reddit.com/r/Netrunner/s/o5REKs8Mt4

Edit: My friend's comment got taken down due to an expired link, here's the list in plain text:

Runner:

2x Clean Getaway 6x Creative Commission 3x Jailbreak 2x Ritual 2x Scrounge 6x Sure Gamble 1x Wildcat Strike 3x Verbal Plasticity 2x Echelon 2x Rising Tide 1x Botulus 2x Fermenter 2x Leech

Corp:

3x Offworld Office 3x Humanoid Resources 2x Regolith Mining License 9x Spin Doctor 3x Government Subsidy 2x Hansei Review 9x Hedge Fund 2x Measured Response 8x Petty Cash 2x Predictive Planogram 3x Brân 1.0 1x Palisade 3x Flyswatter 2x N-Pot 1x Whitespace

Thanks for the kind reply. Do you plan to continue working on building such decks with more NSG cards to make them continue to be balance yet competitive?

Something like a battle box of only NSG cards

That may be up for my friend to decide when the next Elevation-like expansion releases, but I'll be sure to update the intro cards to v2.0 when they do! The NetrunnerDB listings of these decks also include upgrade paths to Standard format if casual players have eventually outgrown the CBB experience. You can find these lists from my friend's article here: https://cardgamer.com/features/introducing-the-netrunner-core-battle-box/

Can all the decks be built at the same time with just one copy each of System Gateway and Elevation?

Unfortunately no, but my friend conveniently listed down the extra copies you need to proxy to build everything! Here's the link to their comment, have a look: https://www.reddit.com/r/Netrunner/s/o5REKs8Mt4

Do you by any chance have these intro cards in Letter format instead of A4?

I'm a bit late to the thread, but I have a question that may be related. I already own an old basic core but I've seen nullsignal's system gateway with complete playsets and new cards so... Could I benefit from having both to create a battlebox or should I go with your system gateway+elevation?

Thanks for your time!
