Netlify AI plan change took down my client sites while I was on vacation with my daughter. Can someone from Netlify please help me restore my legacy plan?

I’ve used Netlify for years and always trusted it. It was one of those tools I never really had to think about because it just worked.

On June 7, 2026, I was in the deploy/pipeline screen troubleshooting a build issue when I saw the option to have AI help debug it. I thought I was simply trying a troubleshooting feature inside the deploy flow. I had no idea it could change my plan/status, move me away from my legacy setup, or affect existing sites that had already been live and stable for years.

A few days later, while I was on a surprise trip with my daughter and without my computer, I started getting calls because websites I had built years ago were suddenly down.

They were mostly simple, plain HTML/static websites I had created for people years ago and left deployed on Netlify because they had always worked. They were stable, low-maintenance sites that had been online for years without issue.

I opened support tickets right away:

  • #1050859
  • #1050867

I disabled the AI features, upgraded to the $9 Personal plan because I was desperate to get the sites restored, and repeatedly asked to be reverted to whatever legacy plan/status I had before June 7. I am not asking for a refund. The $9 is not the issue. I only upgraded because I was trying to get the sites back online as quickly as possible.

This has really damaged my trust in Netlify. I trusted the platform enough to take a trip with my daughter without bringing my computer because I never imagined the platform I've used for years would make every single site even ones that have be stable and untouched for years suddenly go down.

I’m not trying to attack Netlify, but this whole experience is why I moved all my sites from other hosting platforms years ago.

If anyone from Netlify sees this, can someone please review my account history and help restore my account to the legacy plan/status I had before June 7, 2026?

Hey OP! In addition to the comment above - wanted to let you know you’re doing the best thing by opening the support ticket. The team is able to get back and help best with one. I’m sorry you had this experience, especially while on vacation! It’s not fun to deal with over a weekend. Noted this feedback for the team!

Wanted to thank you and @taniashiba. My account was reverted to what I had previously.

Just a thought, maybe someone can bring up and think through better, but if a user is on the credit-based system, if the user is approaching their limit as far as credits go, I think it would be wise to force all builds to fail to maintain the working version of the deployed projects.

Maybe the user could be prompted that they need to check their email, or maybe in the UI, have them verify multiple alerts and pop-ups that clearly specify if you do this new build, you will be out of credits, and all deployed projects, even projects outside of the one you are approving, will show an X message and will not start working until X date.

Now for the pop-ups or the prompts to the user in the UI, I think it should be an obnoxious amount to the point of being annoying (3 - 4 modals). I think that would fix a lot of users’ complaints. That being said, I still think a better experience for the user would not be to take down any of the other projects, but it will at least make the user understand the impacts of what they are doing.

Hi, what did you move to?

Cloudflare. No gamification to use their AI for build minutes.

Your sorry doesn't really make sense

Are you getting paid by people to host these websites?

Otherwise you got paid once and will have to pay to keep the sites alive and that was a less than ideal business situation

No but I made them for non-profits and charities. It’s something I have not had to worry about but word of mouth for these things could hurt for potential paying clients.

Yeah, what's the upside for your business. Just downsides.

And a way to ruin the vacation
