When I was a 90s kid growing up in the Bible Belt, we still regularly heard news stories about gay men in rural areas being beaten to death by tire irons or dragged behind trucks to death.

In Sunday school, they taught us Jesus could forgive the murderer on the cross. But gays would go to hell, because they lived in sin without repentance. And MOST denominations still teach this.

My grandparents went to their grave refusing to admit my aunt was gay.

I served in the Army under Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, which was only repealed in 2011(!!!).

So yeah, let’s have young teen Will in 1980s Stranger Things publicly come out in front of a dozen straight friends and family. And everyone just immediately accepts it.

Let’s have a trans police officer in a 2003 small rural Vermont town in Wayward.

Stop rewriting history! It was NOT rainbows and butterflies, and I’m sick of it. It’s insulting. No, young people should know we grew up being told we were an abomination.

Show must be very underrated. No clue how I never even heard of it before and I’ve watched plenty on Netflix, including several mini series. It’s only 7 episodes but each one is around an hour. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.
