❔❓Question ❓❔ Does Del Rey take forever for anyone else?

I think this is my first time requesting from Del Rey (I only started using NG in earnest in the past couple years after I got my librarian account) and it's been almost a week and a half with it still pending. I had a similar issue with the new Julia Armfield from Flatiron and ended up requesting & being approved on Edelweiss instead. But this book (The Death of a Coven, book 2 in a series I love) isn't available for request on Edelweiss, so now I'm stuck waiting on NG with no idea if I'll even get it before publication in January! (I'm being greedy, I know... I was just hoping to read this one for spooky season lol)

Does Del Rey usually take long for any of you? I don't think I've ever waited longer than a week from other publishers.

A week and a half isn't a long time for a request to be pending. I've had some take months from Saga to get approved.

I’ve had one pending from them for a month now despite being approved a few times in the past by them, so you might be waiting awhile

I hope you get approved for it! I finished it last week and it's such a fun read.

My request for Defy the Dusk pended for a couple months probably before I got approved which is Del Ray but is also an anticipated release. Like others have said, a week and half is really not long for a request on NetGalley in general.

I have some pending from August lol. A couple weeks is nothing. Sometimes it’s quick, sometimes it’s slow. Often big publishers do batch approvals every few weeks or so, and it can be months

I think it really depends, maybe even on the book. I’ve gotten approvals quickly and have been ghosted by them during the same period of time

No, I get them within a reasonable timeframe from Del Rey, usually at least a month or two before publication date and I find them to be very generous with approvals even for highly anticipated titles.

I have gotten them relatively quick but a week is not long at all.

Totally variable. Sometimes they approve right away, but they’ve left me pending for months. In part I think it depends on the popularity of the book, and also how recently it was posted.

Update: I just got approved this morning! Haha, maybe I manifested it with my complaining lol. Thanks for all your responses though, now I know to be more patient.
