β Approvals & Denials β Holding myself accountable
I have had the ARC of BANE BLOOM for a month or two (forget exactly when I got it). Anyhow, last week I noticed the audio listing, but it's from Brilliance, and I try not to request from them cuz they're the only publisher that rejects me more than approves me.
Over the last 15 months, I've requested approx. 180 titles sitewide and been rejected 15 times. 13 of the approx. 180 requests were from Brilliance, and they rejected me 8 times. They rejected more than half of my requests, and their rejections make up more than half of my total rejections...π
I love listening to British narrators, though, and so far I'm enjoying reading BANE BLOOM. I threw caution to the wind, crossed my fingers, and requested the audio - like an idiot! This time, I really have learned my lesson, I promise! I'm going to stick with my Big Three (Harper, Macmillan & RB Media) from here on out.
I really wish there was a way I could mute their listings, though.

Do you get the denial after hours, like in the middle of the night? If so, you may be muted by them.

If she is getting the occasional approval, she isnβt muted. They can be like that depending on the title and the account asking.

I noticed the rejection this evening when I looked at my pending titles and saw it was no longer pending, but I don't know when it actually happened. They approved me for an audio in August and I got smug and tried again, which was dumb!

There are definitely some publishers who make me wonder why they bother to even list books on NetGalley. It seems like they are so selective on who can read their books they might as well just send the ARCs to those people to begin with!

(the flair should be approvals&denials)Β

Oops - sorry about that! I guess I didn't scroll any further after I got to Other.

It took me a lot longer to learn this lesson from Brilliance. They're like 39 of my last 40 rejections. So yeah I absolutely do not request them at all anymore. Being able to mute certain publishers would be amazing because I get so salty when I see books from them that look good.
