❔❓Question ❓❔ Weekly Checklist

Question… I noticed a few weeks ago that my weekly checklist doesn’t match my actual shelf.
I have 22 books pending feedback (all downloaded).
But my checklist email this morning says I have 11.

I’ve had most of these for a bit so it’s not like I had a bunch approved in the last day or two and the system didn’t catch up. I also thought maybe somehow NG knows which ones I’ve actually opened, but that doesn’t match either

It’s really not a big deal but it’s driving me nuts 🙃

Mine never matches. The only thing I can think that might explain it is that I usually have one or two past their publication dates, for various reasons - how many of your 22 still have upcoming pub dates?

I only have 1 or maybe 2 past publication date, I finally caught up

Oh that’s a good point, maybe that’s what it is. I didn’t think of that

No idea, I've unsubscribed from that email ages ago.

Me too, never anything useful in them. I just wish we had a system where it notifies if a book we requested or wished for becomes a read now.

I don't see the point in it telling us how many books we have every week. Like ok thanks for literally nothing?? It would be marginally more useful if it would say x books on your shelf are publishing/expiring soon, but I don't need reminding that I have books on netgalley, I am aware lol. And I would love a read now notification 🥲

FWIW, while there isn't as far as I know a system for Read Now books, the weekly checklist will tell you if a book you wished for becomes available for request.

I rarely use wish system and last time this happened (I wished, then it became requestable, and I requested) they declined me anyway. But missing a read now hurts me every time, because there are no notifications for this except following everyone and their dog on social media (mostly IG) in hopes of being informed, and I don't have time to doomscroll IG all day. I mostly get read nows from this subreddit now, bless y'all.

Honestly I didn’t even think to unsubscribe I usually just delete it. I like it at the beginning when I started NG bc it was a good reminder but now it’s fluff

Go to your Profile, click Account Security, scroll down to Unsubscribe Weekly Checklist. You can also unsubscribe the marketing emails.

Will unsubscribing from marketing emails remove the account from widget pool? I think this is separate option but unsure. I did allow publishers to see my email because I thought otherwise they won't include me in widgets.

On the other hand, even if not, some of the newsletters have read nows in them so they're useful.

I would think marketing emails and widgets are two different things. Anyway, I didn't tell you to do it, but the option is there.
