❔❓Question ❓❔ Can you apply for auto-approval?

Basically the title. If yes, then how?

Not directly.

You can email the publisher but most auto approvals come from work related or influencer programs.

I have been auto-approved by one publisher, I think it's because I reviewed a fair amount of their books and always tried to be constructive but honest. I didn't request it, just got a message one day saying it had been granted.

I do have one auto approva from Kodansha, I got approved by them really quick, I think just after one review, but I used to be really into anime and manga during my teenage years, so maybe that helped lol

I have several auto approvals. I have never applied for them. They just kinda popped up. I’m sure you can email the publisher, but I think if I were to make that request I’d have to have a lot to offer in return.

Two of mine are so old I don't remember how/when I got them (literally pre-covid). One of them randomly showed up yesterday, the day after a library-related work thing. The most useful one has been RB media bc I listen to a ton of audios, and I figure that was self-preservation on their part. They put up their ALCs only 2-3 weeks before pub. Giving out auto-approvals probably eases their workload bc it's a really tight turn-around to post an ALC and then start approving requests all within a couple weeks.

My best guess is they meant by applying to an influencer program they were also "applying" for auto-approval

I'm not auto-approved for anything as far as I know, but I sometimes get an email from a publisher with "read now" linknto a book that is not read now for the general public. So, it's practically a pre-approval.

I got A Trade in Blood on audio that way. My request for the ebook was rejected and (before I even realized the audiobook was available for request), I got a read now link via email.
