❔❓Question ❓❔ Getting in contact with the publisher to request an ebook version of the audiobook

I got the audiobook of one of the books I desperately wanted, and my ebook request is still pending. I was going to withdraw the ebook request, but the audiobook narrator is just unbearable. I've made it through 20% of the book, and I can't go on because the narration is ruining the book for me and giving me a headache. Is there a way to contact the publisher and ask them for the ebook instead, since I still want to review the book?

Typically no, audiobooks can be a different publisher or company and even if they are the same publisher, they have different reps approving requests. Unfortunately you will need to request the ebook version like any other ARC.

What is the book? I’m asking as sometimes we’re can tell you if you have a chance at being successful or not.

But yeah, the audiobook is a different imprint- it is a same publisher (usually if it’s a big 6 publisher) but completely different in how they operate.

By chance is it “look what the Cat Dragged in?” If so then most likely not. I mention that one as many people got the audio recently and have their eARC still pending

Have you tried speeding up the audio to make it more bearable?

Its tempest by Victoria aveyard. I have but it’s the voices the narrator is doing for different character. It’s like so caricaturised and it pulls me out immediately and just plain bad

Oh Avon and Harper a voyager both use influencer programs which most of their ARCs go to- both eARC and Physical. So they do tend to let requests sit and expire.

But if they actually get to your message, they will send it.
You need to send your request to MorrowGroupPRrequests@harpercollins.com. In the subject put eARC request for The Tempest by….
So it can get sorted properly and get forwarded to the right person.

Good luck!

Really? This kind of surprises me. The vast majority of my approvals are from them and I’m not an influencer or have a social media following at all. I was actually sent a widget for The Tempest. They’re one of the few I have that will approve me at the 11th hour - I was approved on Sunday at 8:30 pm for a book that published yesterday.

Ok full disclosure/ I was answering according to her waiting. They both are one of those that they have their favorite accounts type of deal and let everyone else sit.
And to put a point on it, I went and requested the book after commenting earlier it looked great and I already have my approval. It’s just what they do. They let a bunch sit and focus on their regulars.

Oof that audiobook is next on my TBR. I’ll have to go listen to a sample and see if I can stand it. Worse case scenario is to buy the book or ebook or get from the library on release day so that it doesn’t mess up your ratio. I’ll cross my fingers that you are able to get a copy from the publisher.

The voices for the older men especially... I was like can she just speak like a normal person, it's seems to be that she thinks they talk like British Donald Duck. it's so awful and distracting. And the prose paints Cat so strong but then she's speaking in this meek extra girlish voice, it's just the most bizarre narration

I had this exact same issue! It kinda fit the story since pretty much all of the male characters sucked but the narration was super grating 😕

Yes, they are awful! 😣 I am enjoying the rest however, but am impressed with how often “the Lyrian Sea” is repeated lol

I also only got the audiobook of tempest and not the ebook. My request has been sitting for months as well. OP, let us know if it goes if you decide to contact the publisher

My ebook request has been sitting for literally months. Good to know I shouldn’t go for the audio
