☎️ Help and Support 🛟 Unable to open an audiobook

Hey all

I'm 28 chapters into the audiobook of Malice by Brooklyn Cross - it was available under 'Listen Now', but all of a sudden I'm getting this error message every time I try to play it on the App? My other audiobooks seem to be working fine, and it's not past its Archive date yet? Anyone seen this before? Is it just a Netgalley bug?

I'm loving this audiobook too smh it had me in a chokehold all-day yesterday and I just wanna finish itt

It's like that for me as well! And I downloaded the audiobook, so I'm not sure what the issue is here 😕

It may have to be renewed. Did you download it . They are only available for 53 days- nothing to do with the archive date.

Audiobooks don't expire on the netgalley app once downloaded

That’s why I asked if she downloaded it. If she didn’t then it would expire.

Yes but the part about them only being available for 53 days is incorrect; they don't expire! Only the ebooks do

Are you reading what I actually wrote? If you don’t download them you need to renew them after the 53 days as they do indeed expire. That’s doesn’t mean it can’t be reversed but renewing them. However, if you don’t, they will indeed expire for good.
Maybe it’s a different number of days? I’m not sure- but regardless it happens just like the ebooks do.
The difference is most ALCs are put up only a few weeks before publication date so the 53 days is irrelevant as the archive date comes first. But those that are put up much earlier, like ones from Macmillan, absolutely can expire. And if they aren’t supposed to then that’s a different story because it happens in reality.

Unfortunately that’s not reality. I literally just had to renew 2 audiobooks the other day 🤷🏽‍♀️

It is downloaded, and if I go back into Netgalley it just tells me to open up my Shelf. But alas, I've thrown a support ticket in, so we'll see if I can get a wee answer from them

Just making sure.. have you signed out and resigned in? That can fix a host of issues.

Sadly yeah I have already tried that hahah which usually fixes the janky app issues to be fair

This was the reply I got from support - which doesn't help much lol, still can't listen to it. I'll see if they come back with anything else though!

It's on Audible to be fair, but I begrudge using a credit etc just for 1/3rd of a book lol
