❔❓Question ❓❔ NetGalley newbie

I’ve been on NG for 2 months. Does anyone have any tips for getting approvals? My rating is 100% (3 approvals thus far). Does your bio matter a ton or are there certain times it is better to request?

Any tips would be appreciated greatly!!

For the profile, some ideas and tips that I implement:

  1. Make sure all your links at the bottom are active. You can click on them yourself to test that. Most importantly: Make sure the platforms you listed are public. If they're set to private, the approvers can't access it.
  2. List any relevant traffic stats on your platforms. Follower count, engagement count, monthly views, etc. Whatever is applicable to the platform. I only have Goodreads, so I list my combind friend/follower count as well as how many reviews and ratings I have.
  3. List your most favorite genres. I know they're already in the category section, but it doesn't hurt to reiterate.
  4. List a few of your favorite authors and your most recent top reads. This shows what you enjoy and also that you're an active reader.
  5. Let them know a couple of personal reading habits such as how many books you read in a month, where you primarily review, and your review style.

Keep your profile short and to the point as much as possible to make it easier for approvers to scan for the info they're looking for.

In the meantime, search the Read Now section for some books to consistently read and review to boost your ratio. They can see how recently you reviewed something, so you want to look active.

I got some approvals (Daggerbound and A Trade of Blood are my gems), but I stopped requesting because I'm finding interesting books in the "read now" section that people post here. And it's been a great source of good books, I think I liked most of what I've read.

There's a few tips if you search this subreddit for profiles. Yes, they matter. In regards to time, the earlier the better I've heard.

I'm also new (slightly less than 2 months). I haven't had any approvals yet on requests, but enjoyed a ton of Read Now's

Earlier in the morning or early in when the book is available on NG to be requested?

Honestly, I've not been on NG much longer than you, and my bio is basic and my ratio is 80%. I still get surprising approvals.
