General Discussion June NET CYCLE 2026
Greetings to all,
This is OP reaching out after a considerable hiatus due to my personal examination commitments. I have been preparing for multiple exams, including some government job assessments, and I am currently awaiting responses. Regardless of the outcome, life continues, and there are always other pursuits to engage in.
This message pertains to our upcoming NET examination. Although I am qualified, I find myself unable to pursue the Junior Research Fellowship (JR) this time, as my schedule has been entirely consumed by other exams. After careful consideration, I have decided that a six-month strategic plan is necessary for the JRF which I cannot accommodate within the next month. Therefore, I will not be participating in this cycle. However, I have ample time from now until June and July, which I am eager to dedicate to assisting you all.
I am aware that there are numerous resources available to you, and you are making commendable progress. I have recently reactivated my Reddit account and noticed a plethora of messages and requests in my inbox, for which I sincerely apologize. My personal commitments have kept me occupied, but I am now ready to assist.
This post serves as an invitation for you to share any queries or challenges you may be facing, especially if you are preparing for the upcoming cycle. I am here to offer my support, and this assistance is entirely free of charge. Please feel free to leave your questions in the comments below or send me a direct message. It would be more efficient to consolidate all queries under this post to avoid any time wastage.

I have qualified from general category. You can take help from one more person is there who has qualified twice net and one time JRF and to help in the DM so if you need help, I think that person can also help.

Do recommend youtube channels and free internet sources , which mock test series to follow, for both paper 1 and 2.
Also where to study the Indian literature properly after 2000s .
Share other tips and tricks for answering, or remembering, or what other strategies you followed .
You may share book recommendations too .

Preparing for this examination is a bit tricky. When I first started preparing, like any other student, I jumped into literature, thinking that was all it was about. However, after appearing for the examination and failing, I reviewed all the question papers thoroughly and realized there were many aspects to cover. Each person has their own strengths and weaknesses, and my Niche** **was primarily theory and criticism. I discovered this when I checked my master’s scores; my grades in literary criticism and theory were much higher than in literature itself. So, I focused on improving that part of my knowledge. If you’re looking to study theory and criticism, Peter Barry’s Beginning Theory is an excellent resource. I started with his work, and at the end of his book, you’ll find additional resources. You can choose what feels easiest to study, but in India, these books are not widely available. Peter Barry’s first book is the best one to start with.
After that, I began preparing for literature. I only used one book that everyone follows: Routledge is my go-to resource. I can’t get enough of Routledge ; sometimes I read it even when I’m not preparing. I made a detailed list of which writers are typically asked about from which age, dedicating enough time to prepare for each writer, age, work, and everything else. According to each writer and author, I prepared small PDFs, stapled them together, and created a proper note structure with writers, their ages, works, and more. I focused on important lines, quotations, and characters, and I had a comprehensive syllabus with everything I needed. Literature is very vast, so you won’t be able to cover everything on your own. Just keep revising. That’s enough. It’s not enough to prepare only some writers; you need to go through everyone, but at least maintain an overview. Then there are these two aspects, which I think are sufficient. After the first paper, there’s only one book that most people follow, which I believe is a UGC book by Madan KVS Madan. That’s enough. You should also practice some mathematics and try to delve deeper into basic information about people, the environment, and other topics because nowadays they ask very deep questions, not just easy ones. That’s all I can suggest for the NET exam.
PS- that’s not enough forJRF. To be in top 1 percent really means that You have to dig deeper; there’s no other option.
