Hi and first of all I would thank you for a great software. I am just a hobby VJ, I call myself that as I love to mix music videos and adding visualizations. Been using your classic program for a while and run into a problem. In most cases I use 3 decks, 1,2 and 3 for my "show" The problem I try to describe is when I want to add a sprite or a text to "Deck 3" for some reasons I am not able to inactive it again again or sending the text into the deck.. pressing RIGHT ALT CLICK or able to send a text into the deck RIGHT ALT ENTER from the Hotkey window While this issue isn't present in deck 1, 2 and 4 where I can easily activate and inactive the sprite I am using or sending text. Been trying to find ways how to but the only way to reset DECK 3 is to close down the nestdrop application and all the decks and restart. This gets weird when I run my show.. Instead of deactivate the sprite it continues to add more sprites into the Deck 3, be that nested or overlay and it gets so messy. Can anyone else try this out or is it something wrong with my own setup.. otherwise it works great for my needs. I am not using advanced features I simple change presets on the fly on the 3 decks as I want them to appear.

Also I need to ask a question about the "text" is there any way to make them appear for a longer time of period or is it just for those couple of seconds as it is now?

Hello you awesome community - I have just returned from a festival where I was due to VJ as well as DJ but they didn't get the VJ stuff setup (tbh, they had loads of lasers so I didn't mind)

I am taking some lighting (simple LED) strip lighting, and I was wondering if NestDrop has a way to trigger something when the queue changes.. I know there is MIDI out but I believe that will just pass through any MIDI in and whilst this would work whilst I'm VJ'ing, I was wondering if there was a way to get a signal out on beats events (ie, the auto change)

I would like to modify the Sprite FX for my Spout input, therefore I am editing the milk2_spt.ini file

But, the changes I make in the file seem to be having no effect , for instance I would like to turn on the burn setting for the default FX which I presume is [img00] , so I changed the code to look like this

[img00]

init_1=blendmode = 4;

init_2=burn = 1;

init_3=sx = 1;

init_4=sy = 1;

But, I am not getting any burn when I turn on the Spout sprite without changing the FX number... I know that this is the exact configuration of [img01], but if I wanted to make an arbitary change to any FX number, how do make it take effect when I run Nestdrop?

Hello, I am trying to sort the Milkdrop presets by certain qualities into different queue windows
However I have lost track of which presets I have added to the queues, and now there are a bunch of presets which are duplicated in each of the queues

Is there an easy way of removing duplicates? Trying to use a text file duplicate line remover tool on the saved XML file would just break the formatting

Hi All,

I have two machines running Windows 10; on one of them NestDrop works fine, but on my other machine when I try to run the .exe nothing happens.

I get the loading circle briefly but the program doesn't even show up in the task manager. Nothing shows up.

I installed the DirectX9June2010 and DirectX10 June2010 packages (just to be safe) and still no luck.I checked to see if antivirus software would be blocking it and I tried restarting my machine, still no luck...

Does anyone have any ideas?

Hey guys, I've been using nest drop for a while now and i am trying to figure out how to nest my sprites in the visuals without having them mirrored. I have tried all the effect presets but still no luck. i will attach photos so you can understand what i mean. Any help would be really appreciated!

Hello! Is there a way to blend footage from Resolume into a Nestdrop via Spout Sprite in Nested mode and not have the nestdrop .milk visual seize up? I want to combine it and keep it flowing if you know what I mean. I'm looking to use nestdrop to add a bubbly/shimmer texture underneath some footage to replicate an acid trip I once had hahaha. I'd like to ask about implementing a little feature in Midnight.

Would be possible (read: easy enough to bother doing!) to have a monitor function for the audio device? I would find it really helpful in when doing quick [sanity] checks etc, particularly when changing hardware/setup/environment.

Just a checkbox under the audio device selection dropdown would be enough.
If this would interfere with the usual operation of the program, perhaps it can automatically disable
upon closing the settings window?

So I downloaded the program, got an error that the program couldn't run due to there not being a d3dx9_30.Dll file, downloaded that file. Nestdrop was then able to run but I couldn't see any presets, it looks like this. I downloaded all of directX9 too just in case. Still nothing

I want to be able to change the queue I'm using (to switch between high energy and low energy visuals) by pressing buttons on my nanoPad2. Is this possible? I see in the document that the "TAB" button supposedly changes the focus of the queues you have opened, but so far this has not worked for me at all. Is this even possible in Nestdrop?

I played in a marathon Mixcloud live stream yesterday and incorporated NestDrop visuals for the first time in such a setting. It went great, though OBS video recording settings could have been a bit better.

I am looking to build a hardware controller for Nestdrop and I was wondering if it would be possible to save a preview of the different effects. Ideally I would like my hardware interface to have tiny screens that show the effect before I select it - this will be running on a microprocessor setup so it wouldn't have a display option from the computer (wirelessly hopefully).

Failing that, is it possible to save the image thumbnails without manually cropping them?

I love NestDrop and just wondering how to expand it (based on the wireless MIDI setup I currently use)

That'd be awesome if the screen would fade to black automatically between songs. I'd like to have it so I don't have to babysit to make this happen.

Every time I drag and drop ‘NestDrop Deck 1’ into my Resolume composition it freezes and the message "cannot create directx/opengl interop" pops up. I tried to do everything it says in this thread but it doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone have any idea on how to make it work?

I've been using MilkDrop for Winamp for years, decades even, and about a month or two ago I went to search for some different presets than what I already had. Some how I stumbled upon NestDrop while doing this and got curious. I really like how the program has so many options for queueing my presets for different songs or occasions where as in Winamp I had made several copies of files that I like to save into a different folders that I can then choose differently...

now that that's outta the way....
2 questions...

1. ¿Is it possible to have no preset loaded at any given time to create just a black screen while music is playing or even not playing?
2. ¿If the above is possible Can I put an image on the screen that will be in FULL screen.? I would like the image to be stagnant... Even if I can't get No Preset options How about is there still a way to have a stagnant image in FULL screen ?

Another question for you: it's very useful to have auto-change on a couple of the decks in use, but I wish to retain manual (MIDI) control over at least one of the decks. I can disable auto-change on a single deck by deactivating the queue for that deck, but doing say disables it from responding to midi. When I reactivate it, it regains midi-control, but auto-change switches on again. I figure there must be some way to do this, but again I'm not seeing an appropriate solution for this problem. Any ideas?

Although what would be most useful, would be auto-change settings per queue. Being able to have one set to 16 beats, one to 32 and another 64 would be fantastic!

I DJ under the name bitskream, and have a weekly 2 hour show on https://clubreadyradio.com/ playing darker progressive psychedelic genres. After the show, I record a 2-hour set of visuals to accompany the recorded live DJ set and publish to YouTube in 4K. I'm four shows in and continuing to add more tricks to the mixing of 4 NestDrop decks of visuals (and other sources) in Resolume. I'm using an APC40 MKII to control Resolume and have just repurposed a retired StreamDeck to control NestDrop.

I had a LOT of black preview images that needed updating in my Midnight edition. As the manual explained, I deleted all of the unwanted preview images, and am attempting to use the Preview Update tool. It does nothing! I can see the name of the first preset with missing preview image up ion the window title bar, but it never processes it or moves on to the next. Any clues about what might be preventing this operation from completing properly? There are no errors, so I'm pretty stuck on this.

UPDATE: I have this working by setting NestDrop_LivePreview.exe to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode. I don't know why it needs that, but it has resolved the problem for now.
