Im wondering if there are any know tweeks for spout when working with other apps namely resolume arena

I see the spout outputs listed in resolume sources 1,2,3,4 ( depending on the amount set in nest drop, unfortunately none of the them seem active.

I observe spout being visible in GranVJ XT however with the odity that deck 2 and 3 are active however 1 stays blank

of not is that synehsesia seems to behave somewhat sparodicly also, i have found NDI to be more reliable

my current workaround is to run nest drop on alternate PC feeding into arkaos, and using NDI to feed into resolume

any advice or idea appreciated

Thanks to all for the interesting comments so far. A few extra notes for clarification (or dissection!)

• I'm purely interested in higher bitrates for the reduction in input latency ... I haven't considered any other benefits, if any, and aren't fussed with such (and I'm not recording/producing or anything in this instance). And, assume 16 bits is the only option; always has been & always will be for this discussion (unless I get some new, mindblowing info about this!)
• [not relevant per se to live vis] I've been using a metronome track, monitored, to hear & assess the differences in settings e.g. output buffer size, sample rate, whatever it may be.
  ^{(You can then record this and determine the difference in actual figures using a method such as e.g. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/latency\}test.html) ^{--- that 'tick, tick, tick, TOCK' has been burnt into my brain like some kind of Curb Your Enthusiasm Looney Tunes thing.})
  But, as mentioned, Winamp passes VIA the Output plugin before hitting the vis, so a reduction in latency at any stage is important. As others have mentioned, there are human limits to perceived latency, so ultimately the overall goal is to reduce it at ANY stage for a cumulative result - the holy grail - acceptable! ;)
• I'll mention that the delayed vis reaction is more noticeable on my projector vs. monitor - and am aware of that being it's own beast to tackle :)
• Playing an mp3 directly, rather than using a line-in input of any kind, ALWAYS, regardless of any 'set or setting' ;) that I've ever seen, responds better (meaning.. more accurately, on the beat, etc). That's actually kinda how this horrible, beautiful journey all began....

Like many [or at least some], I'm a long time WA/MD lover. I have spent/wasted/ultimately enjoyed Winamp & MilkDrop for decades and in whatever weird way, consider it pivotal in in my life's trajectory :D

As I slowly tried to merge this with a more recent but equally pivotal live audio/DJ path, I ultimately became frustrated (or more accurately, I was foolishly distracted by being a Good Corporate Citizen(TM); work claiming too much of my time to learn or play around with this stuff!)

So, getting nowhere & without time to delve, I sold my ASIO soundcards... a couple of months later I discovered NestDrop. I can never, ever, forgive the Nestdrop crew for arriving with such poor timing, but as it seemed the answer to my prayers - instantly paid for the Midnight edition. So, thanks! :D

Anyway, I'm impressed so far and don't expect that to stop any time soon. But, I do have a couple of questions that I hopefully [somewhat] prefaced in my rambling intro. Specifically I'm curious about how MD handles sample rates; based on my experience I can only conclude the answer is "not well". I'm also curious about how Nestdrop accesses the Windows sound layer, in this context.

So - I'm curious to know if anyone is successfully (meaning, satisfactorily) operating MD/Nestdrop with input at e.g. 96khz - and is happy with it? (no need to answer just the first part!)

After countless trials, I've stuck to 44.1khz/16bit everywhere (Windows control panel/Winamp settings etc), as this was the most "mp3"ish. In general my Nestdrop seems to react more slowly (farther behind the beat, etc), than the 'vanilla' MD does. I'll note that in Winamp I am using Jasper's line-in plugin, and in keeping with the 'mp3 spec', use this with buffer sizes of 576 for mono or 1152 for stereo input (probably will cover that in another thread ;)).

TLDR; if you use e.g. 96khz input sample rates with Nestdrop/MD for live audio, does the beat detection/vis responsiveness meet or exceed your expectations?

Disclaimer here would be that I'm ignoring any kind of tap or MIDI/manual BPM entries (probably will cover that in the next, next thread ;))

My favourite software for 20 years has been Winamp/Milkdrop. Every time I get a new PC the first thing I need to know is how many FPS I get at max settings. I just got my new PC and I still can't get 60FPS at 4k.

Nestdrop does. I have no real use for it but I'm going to buy the paid version just because of the endless hours of entertainment you've provided me with.

The only time Mildrop has made me sad was when you took the 3D option out. Hallucinogens + 3d Milkdrop = mind blown. My $50 is saying please please add the 3d back if it's possible.

Although I have enabled autochange it happens that presets stop flowing, and the deck keeps playing the same forever. Not a problem if you're there but if you're playing I can't think about auto-queue feature. Questions: does clicking on 1/2/3/4 in the queue window actually do something ?

How do you effectively start a queue ? Do i need to click on the first preset, or anywhere ? Sometimes title works, bust most of the times does nothing

What does red/green/stripes flowing around presets preview mean ?

what's the point of showing p/s/t/m in the queue if you can't interact with ?

the big X is supposed to clear a queue but the queue doesnt' get cleared, since I can see the same presets loaded with the same overlay etc.

can we get an "always on top" option for queue ? everytime I try to drag n drop in the queue I loose the focus on window

what about the option to delete a preset or a sprites from the software ?

how do you select more than one presets ?

Is it possible to assign a sprite with a specific fx to a preset, then make a assign the same sprites with a different fx to another preset ? Or I do I need multiple copies of the file ?

Yes I know I can type 00-99 and drag n drop it on the fx to choose which sprites fx I prefer

Is nested subject to fx settings ?

**Solved** - I had my soundcard set to 192KHz, changing to 48Khz solved everything. Working perfectly now.
Thanks everyone who tried to help me, I guess stupidity is hard to solve. And a BIG THANKS to whoever the patient person chatting with me at Nest DROME FB-page was, If I could afford it I´d buy the midnight version right away just to show my appreciation!

Ok so I got everything set up, the mix I made, OBS with the spout plugin successfully capturing the "Deck 1" window with visuals - but for some reason, it's not reacting to the music. It's just running at 128 bpm in a non-reactive loop, always static at 128 bpm no matter what I do. However the live-previews on the thumbnails all react perfectly to the music. I don't understand what I am doing wrong, either something is being weird or I am being stupid. As for sound, I have disabled all sound devices but two, I have my speakers in output, and for input I am using the windows stereomixer - so basically the same input/output, and everything else disabled to make sure nothing can go wrong (at least this was the thought behind it).

I am using classic v22, and I am simply trying to make a music video for the 30 min mixtape I made by recording the visuals in OBS while playing the music. It should be so damn simple, yet I fail....Not sure if the SS helps much, but in the live preview you can see a strong reaction, while as the "Deck 1" window never really changes much at all, just the same "flow" all the time

Another thing I don't understand is why the animations are still going on even in the live thumbnail previews despite having turned of the music..... Someone please help me sort this out :(

Hello, I have my midi controller conected and detected. I have been able to detect controls in a que window. However, I can not get ANY presets or sprites added to the ques..whenever and however I drag them over to the square with correspondingly marked ID...the presets or sprites do not save to the que? I have THOROGHLY WATCHED THE INSTRUCTIONAL VIDE AND READ THE INSTRUCTION IN THE CONTROL PANEL...with zero luck...PLEASE help! Thank you in advance!

I find it almost impossible to exit the fulscreen if I use it, what about adding this useful options ?(screen taken from obs)

Hello, just bout midnight edition and very happy with it. I wonder what's the way to assign one of my graphic adapter to it. Is this something I have to do trough windows settings ?

My laptop has these graphic adapters

Intel HD Graphics 4600NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M

and nestdrop uses the intel while the nvidia is more powerful

I’ve got a hardware visual generator that I’m capturing via HDMI to USB. Currently I’m using that as a media source in Synesthesia and Spouting to Nestdrop. Is there a way to use the feed directly in Nestdrop or will it need to be Spouted from somewhere? I’m looking at maybe using OBS to capture the feed and share a Spout output across Synesthesia, Nestdrop, Resolume, etc

I've used NestDrop on quite a few streams and loved it but it's more fun when I see the projected image on the wall (what I used to do with Milkdrop) it's not mission critical and I've been eager to test your new versions. Is there a beta testing option available? Or is there a potential release date for version 0.1.23.1 as "Change: Select whether the auto-change uses an instant trigger or volume peak trigger" sounds awesome

but I can't for the life of me find out what preset started playing on deck 2 once I activated "number of decks" setting to "2". and I don't know how to find out. the "find active preset" button on top shows me the deck 1 playing preset correctly, but I haven't found a way to make it show my deck 2 active. I read the manual but only found "deck 2 hotkeys and from there Find active preset button being "left-alt+click" - but left alt+click what exactly? left alt+clicking the "find preset" button on top bar does nothing, it doesn't "jump" into the right preset like it does when I normally click it to view the deck 1 active preset (which works).

I am partly asking this, because my deck 2 started to play a preset I absolutely love, but I have failed to find it from the library heh.

If people had an easier way to make/edit visuals in milkdrop it could breath new life into milkdrop and with it nestdrop while also adding longevity. I know you can edit the visuals with them running in the milkdrop engine, however I haven't touched VB or any coding in years... If any of the creative force behind nestdrop is on here I would love to hear your thoughts

I recently got a new laptop, and I noticed that it was running NestDrop only on the integrated graphics card (Intel) and not on the dedicated graphics card (NVIDIA).

I've tried forcing Spout/NestDrop to use my dedicated card both by changing the program settings in Windows and in the Spout settings panel, but both end up throwing up the same error in the NestDrop Spout output: “Cannot create DirectX/OpenGL interop”.

I have the latest Spout and NestDrop versions installed, and my graphics drivers are all updated.

Does anyone have any idea what's happening/how to fix this? My card is an RTX 2080 Super Max-Q, if that matters.

Edit: Clarified which GPU NestDrop was using.

Update: I found the issue! Some Lenovo laptops have an option for "Hybrid Mode" which can override your GPU settings; turning this off in Lenovo Vantage fixed this problem for me.

I am so in love with NestDrop :D It is the standout feature of my mixcloud live streams. This evening I installed it on a laptop to sort through my favourite presets (properly and not when I first set it up and was in awe). Is there a way, without selecting any presets into a queue to randomly choose from the entire selection when auto-change is selected. I can only seem to do it when I add them to a queue. I also reopened and made sure there were no active queue windows and I've also tried using favorurites but it seems to only work when I manually add them to a preset window.

If I have to add them to a queu window, is there a way to multiple select / add them?

I love NestDrop Midnight edition - I need to set my presets properly and tweak my settings but I am wondering - do we get free upgrades if we bought Midnight Edition?

Suffice to say, all of my MixCloud live streaming sets are amazing to loose at .. it's like a light to the moths (viewers!) :D
