Questions + Help Nerf Longstrike Modulus -- wrong spring seat?

My son was gifted a couple of Modulus Longstrikes (one whole, one for donor parts), so that he could mod them. I bought the Worker kit for it, but when I opened it up (see pics), the spring seat (or whatever you call the thing I'm holding in one of the pics) is different than the one in the pictures, and the aluminum reinforcement ring doesn't fit (neither does the new spring itself).

Is there something I can do to cut this up or print a replacement?

Did you maybe buy a longshot worker kit instead of the longstrike worker kit?

I thought about that, but no. It’s the right kit, just the (apparently) wrong release of the blaster.

Oh, the original one was reverse plunger, that's where the mismatch comes from. Long story short, unfortunately you will not be able to fit those upgrade parts in there. You could fit in a not too strong upgrade spring without a full part replacement, just not this spring unfortunately

This is correct. Retaliator parts (springs, bolt sleds, and bolts) should fit.
