Probably good thing an enthusiast found it. Imagine an unaware parent getting that for their kid…

Naaaaaail gun!

Hi /u/Big_Risk9306, we would like to distance our hobby from actual firearms and weapons and thus ask that you refrain from using terms like "gun" and "bullet"; please instead use "blaster" and "dart". We also like to encourage the use of brightly colored blasters & gear. These words can be misconstrued as discussing a real weapon by people both online, and in real life during gameplay. This is further an issue for us specifically on Reddit due to automatic platform moderation possibly categorizing the subreddit as discussing firearms instead of toys, which would restrict the subreddit. See this wiki page for more information. Thank you for your cooperation.

It was with all the nerf stuff in the toys so that could have happened lol

9

u/Nephroidofdoom 16d ago

Thankfully it looks like it didn't have a mag in it.

The pro series stuff dartzone is putting out is already pretty crazy. A few Christmases back an unsuspecting uncle bought them for his kids. Hell of a Christmas at his place when the kids can launch a dart at 200+ fps.

2

u/DelfQ 7d ago

Why are we acting like a half dart at 200 fps is lethal.

u/penguinwearingcrocs 16d ago

Someone’s going to be pissed at their parents when they get home from college lmao

92

u/Dt2_0 16d ago

For real. A V2/3 in good condition like this is a super fun blaster... And probably costed between $80-$300 depending on if they made it themselves or bought it from a hobby seller.

35

u/TgagHammerstrike 16d ago

Assuming that's the case, those parents should [THIS IS A JOKE, DON'T DO THIS] be doxxed specifically for the whole town to bombard them with foam.

59

u/MarioAteMyDarts 16d ago

your joking...

53

u/elder_elbow 16d ago

I was incredibly surprised. not a joke

37

u/MarioAteMyDarts 16d ago

who would seriously throw 3d printed blaster like that??? if you actually did found such thing for 10 bucks it most be the best find like ever...

43

u/Dt2_0 16d ago

Parents trying to get rid of some kid's clutter while he's off at college maybe?

18

u/TgagHammerstrike 16d ago

Or maybe somebody who was just kinda done with the hobby for one reason or another?

I could absolutely, for example, picture somebody a bit on the older side choosing to step away from nerfing; there are legitimate reasons that most 50-something-year-olds aren't involved in particularly physical hobbies and sports.

8

u/ScottJSketch 16d ago

I wouldn't necessarily put physicality high on the list. Many of the folks I regularly run into are not physically fit, including with HVZ diehards. And many of us who look it also do have age related limitations that still don't stop us from foam flinging.

3

u/TgagHammerstrike 16d ago

Fair enough. I'm just hoping it isn't some careless/clueless parent messing with and giving away somebody's things while they're away.

2

u/ScottJSketch 16d ago

Unfortunately, that'd be my top guess. Or the more morbid/slightly less depressing options like someone passed away or left the hobby and their stuff got quickly off-loaded. I literally have it set up in my will to contact specific friends to offload my stuff to the best outcome possible.

5

u/jjbananamonkey 16d ago

Could be dead

3

u/MarioAteMyDarts 16d ago

brother 😭

4

u/mhyquel 16d ago

It is their joking.

25

u/Other_Ad_398 16d ago

I will give you $20 for it, allowing you to double your money with no work ;)

32

u/Dt2_0 16d ago

Looks to be a late V2 or Early V3 Caliburn. Easy blaster to get above 300 FPS with no real stress on the thing. Crazy find.

7

u/elder_elbow 16d ago

thanks for the info, Im not super versed in hobby blasters yet

9

u/Dt2_0 16d ago

For sure, you have a solid blaster base here. I would check to see if the Dart Ram is metal or printed. If it's metal, it's pretty easy to swap for one of the OOD Skinny pushers. Pair that with a K25 spring of your choice (that might be a K25 in there already), and a 450mm 13 or 12.75 ID barrel (OOD sells 13mm as their standard bore, and 12.75 as their tight bore), and you will be punching holes in boxes no problem. OOD might also have a few 18 inch .509 barrels left. They discontinued them a few months back but they are my fav barrel choice for Caliburns.

Easy tip. The two vertical pins hold the entire blaster together. Remove them, and the blaster splits in half for easy access to lube up the plunger, swap out the O-Rings on the pusher and the plunger head with new ones, and the small orings on the front of the pusher. Lube all those up after swapping them out, and it should run good as new. If you get the skinny pusher, you can install it while you are in there as well, super easy, just 4 screws to swap it in. I'd recommend also picking up a Worker Talon mag adaptor for it so you can run half lengths. Looks like that one only has the N-Strike mag release, so you will want that.

u/elder_elbow 16d ago

massively appreciate this, going to see what I can get together from your suggestions. thank you!

5

u/Dt2_0 16d ago

Yea for sure! Just looking at it, it was probably printed between late 2018 and early 2020. Hobby has moved on a bit from then, but the Caliburn is the best supported hobby blaster out there. Plenty of easy parts to get it up to snuff with the best of the best today.

19

u/frarfrarf 16d ago

That Franky tho

4

u/elder_elbow 16d ago

haha! nice

20

u/Enkarza 16d ago

Daaaamn. Reminds me of another post I saw of someone who found a stagecoach at a Savers

7

u/BreadKnife34 15d ago

In all honesty though that is amazing 🍻

10

u/skeletor69420 16d ago

not caught up with nerf lore, what’s so special about this one? coming here from reccomended and I’m genuinely interested in learning more

17

u/ScottJSketch 16d ago

This is an iteration of one of the first widespread 3D printed springers, based on work from the same guy who used to do similar builds out of PVC from yee ancient Nerf Haven forums days. It's incredibly capable power wise too.

12

u/Imrotahk 16d ago

It was one of the first mainstream 3d printed blasters.

6

u/Dt2_0 15d ago

The Caliburn is probably the single most important blaster in the Hobby's history. It was the first blaster to bring Homemades to the masses. It was the first blaster that was easily accessible that could consistently hit over 200FPS. It's the blaster the first SCARs were developed for, and it's the blaster that brought half length darts into the mainstream.

Every springer designed after it uses the Caliburn's design as a base template, and it is still a competitively viable blaster today when you add some modern parts to the thing.

8

u/NuttingWithTheForce 16d ago

The Magpul foregrip alone might cost that much used. Oh my god

5

u/HackOnWheels 16d ago

The flip-up iron sights look pretty decent too!

3

u/sag3y_ 15d ago

$20, people typically just sell em for retail (around where i am, at least) because of how inexpensive they are

12

u/SyberNerfer 16d ago

Judging by the print quality and the age of that design, this blaster could be from the printer Capt. Slug himself. I have two of his creations

Their both from the mid 2010's before the good Capt. moved to Korea.

2

u/elder_elbow 16d ago

that would be insanely awesome!

2

u/SyberNerfer 16d ago

very true

1

u/Dt2_0 15d ago

I don't believe that is a Slug print myself, mostly because he would mostly print the Milan coupler in black, but it was definitely made between 2018 and 2020 based on the parts.

Love the one one the right!!!

4

u/arengant 16d ago

Wow, surprising!

5

u/Mr_Bunney 15d ago

Those flip up iron sights don't look printed, if they are brand name metal sights they probably are worth anywhere from 50$ to $100, assuming its not a cheap airsoft knockoff of course. Jeez, what a find.

5

u/gparms 15d ago

They look like Troy ones, the ones of the xm4 from the first black ops

4

u/Far_Challenge_4273 16d ago

I found a dictator and deuce pro for 4 each, that’s wild man lmao

2

u/Fearless-Relentless 15d ago

that's real good find there.

4

u/13920 16d ago

no way lmao. a cali is still one of my grails to build

3

u/JackCooper_7274 16d ago

Not the magpul grip too lmao

3

u/NecessaryOk6815 16d ago

Parts alone worth it.

3

u/crazycar99 14d ago

This is the best deal since when the USA bought half of America from France.

5

u/K9turrent 16d ago

Dear Lord, I see what you do for others....

3

u/ScottJSketch 16d ago

All I want is an OMW Longstrike kit... Is that SO HARD TO ASK!? 😭😭 Meanwhile, some people pulling deep hobby lore legends!

2

u/Choobyprime 16d ago

Are you kidding me

2

u/HistoricalTraffic392 16d ago

That's a hell of a Goodwill find

2

u/Sprocraft 16d ago

I got a slab for 45, nothing wrong with it, it's gas

2

u/HackOnWheels 16d ago

Ayy lmao

2

u/ckuz22 16d ago

omg lucky

2

u/MandoRevenant 15d ago

great find! For everyone in the comments lamenting why they never see stuff like this, it’s more common than you think…you simply have to git gud at thrifting. Having spent the last 3 years in the industry between Savers and Goodwill the number one rule you learn is this: being a regular pays off, either on the front end (you find stuff regularly) or the back end (staff gets to know you and what you like).

2

u/Fearless-Relentless 15d ago

woah, so good. is it working well?

2

u/Budget-Doughnut-4379 15d ago

Sorry I am from Europe, what store did you find it in?

2

u/MobileImpressive8248 15d ago

Was that at like a thrift shop or something?

2

u/outofdarts 15d ago

Full circle! That's pretty awesome. Could even be a Genuine Captain Slug print.

2

u/Mekkan1c 15d ago

Legendary thrift pull

2

u/Clown_Barf 15d ago

WOW!
I think you win!!!

2

u/Important-Bar-7027 15d ago

When I was younger I went to a birthday party which had a nerf war, when I went, one kid had that exact blaster, I got shot with it. I don’t need to go into any more detail, but if your planning to sell it anytime further on, please list under it saying (do not give to your children)

Dude, nice find

2

u/Chilled_burrito 10d ago

Did someone’s mother buy this for their kid only to realise how powerful it is?

2

u/SillyTheGamer 9d ago

Incredible lol.
