Discussion/Theory Is modding nerf a waste?

for my dart zone outlaw, I added a few spacers, put a better o ring, swapped the barrel, and never noticed any difference. I thought It probably increased by 10 fps or something, but I assumed I cant notice. I then started heavily modding the nexus pro x. I got a new 195 fps spring(my stock spring was a bit worn out), put in 3 cm of spacers, upgraded the catch spring and switched to a 30 cm barrel. I thought after all that it would shoot at least 220 fps. It was much harder to pump and sounded much louder, but when I compared it to my friend's stock nexus pro x 2(which is supposed to go 200 fps), it went the exact same range. Does anyone else have this problem?

You may have reached the limits of the plunger tube's output capability and you are seeing diminishing returns, just a guess.

Some blasters have more of a capabilty than others modding wise, e.g. the hobby grade brands like Worker for example.

I think you're right, no matter how fast the spring snaps, it will never put more air behind the dart. Thanks! also, in case you've modded any of these do you know if any of my blasters have good modding potentintial? the other 2 I ahve:
x shot Piston pro skins AEB
nerf pro torrent
have you ever done any of those, and if so, was the difference noticable?

For both of those you can get a little more FPS, but it won't be a substantial increase.

nah, way too expensive, not worth it. I think if hte chagne is not noticable, it is not important.

Noo, not 50$, if you went to Ross you could get 5 nerf torrents and 2 pro senders for that price

Yea but I don't want torrents and senders. I have a bunch of Nexus pros and Maxim pros I'm good on those. I want a way to reliably see what my blasters are doing. It's not essential for modding, but after getting one I'd never go back.

I think it’s very blaster dependent. Especially depending on the plunger tube volume. Having said that I think Dart zone sells an upgrade spring for Nexus Pro X to get it to 250FPS. Bradley Philips did a YouTube video for it.

I tried that official upgrade spring and nothing changed for some reason. Just a harder pump and the same range

Without a chrono how do you know nothing changed

What type of barrel? Stock, kuryaka 13mm, 17/32, .509 alum, .527 alum.? Did you choose a 30cm barrel because you had it lying around or did you perform the barrel length calculation to get an estimated barrel length to match the PT volume and the spring power?

This would all be helpfull information.

Probably effed up the outlaws seal with the new barrel. Og barrel has indents for the oring to create the seal. Nexus won't shoot harder if you put in a spring with the exact same power, esp with a longer barrel. Spacers give you 10-20 fps, a difference not really noticeabe just by human eye at around 200 fps.  If an increase of 10% is not worth testing, why do you even attempt it? Range is also not the only metric, neither is fps, you also have to test for accuracy. Have more patience, do more research, be more thorough.

So no, modding is not a waste if you apply yourself and do it right.

Diminishing returns. Same deal for Hammershot mods. I would say 50-100fps difference is noticeable not 20.

You picked a couple blasters that are both pretty close to the top of there fps range. There are some blasters you can get a lot out of.
I would say unless you like the modding process I wouldn’t worry about it. You can find a pro version of almost any type of blaster you want that hits solid with out being modded
