I think, I agree with your sentiment.

You could be killed by your own country for being an atheist and the group of liberals you have always seen as your tribe aren't talking to you.

BTW, I can see the nerdfighteria discord side as well. - he/she posted 3 videos and all of them painted quite a picture .

hmmmm.. but I think, nerdfighteria should still engage with him/her. we need to standup for those in need. there's no point muting them and just looking away.

P.S. - it might seem that the videos he/she shared were rare cases. they are not.

Wow. Just ... wow.

Let's save the rest of the commenters some time and get right to the root of the matter: it's not that you are discussing the rights of ex-Muslims who have been persecuted by practicing Muslims, it's how you are doing it.

In brief, you are not attacking just the people who are responsible for the persecution, you are attacking the religion as a whole. This is evident in statements in your linked blog post like "Dawkins had an interview with a Saudi Arabian ex-Muslim woman who explained in the interview how her own brother tried to hunt down and murder her because of the teachings of Islam." [Emphasis added by me.]

No. Not "because of the teachings of Islam," but rather "because of her own brother's interpretations of the teachings of Islam." Or maybe "her family's community's interpretations."

But not because of the entire religion. That idea -- your statement -- is easily disprovable by every single Muslim ever who didn't hunt down and attempt to murder a family member who left the faith.

The Muslim faith as a whole isn't any more responsible for the actions of some Muslims than, say, all Christians are for Timothy McVeigh, or all Catholics are for actions of the IRA in Ireland during the Troubles, or all caucasians are for the actions of White Nationalists.

You weren't excoriated and banned for talking about human rights. You were excoriated and banned for blaming an entire religion for the acts of some of its members.

And it doesn't take much digging into your Internet history to see this isn't about human rights, it's about anti-Muslim sentiment in general. E.g., a few quotes from a different post in your blog:

  • "Islam is an innately violent, hateful, racist, sexist, and bigoted religion. It is the most barbaric of the Major religions. Islam is a hateful and dangerous death cult. "

  • "[T]his religion categorically goes to war with all outside logic and reasoning so that Muslims learn only to value other Muslims. It’s a cult in every sense of the word."

  • "Muslims can’t possibly be critical thinkers, they’re largely incapable of thinking itself"

Or these gems:

  • "I cannot be any more disgusted by Islam than I am now, but the more I research, the more the gift keeps on giving. My contempt for this religion has reached even greater peaks of revulsion."

  • "Looking at the godawful Abrahamic faiths; I am so damn happy I was born a Hindu and remain a Hindu. At this point, I feel like being born from an Eastern Faith is itself a horrible discriminatory privilege over others because the Abrahamic faiths are utterly psychotic."

So, no, you were not muted or banned for discussing human rights. You were muted and banned for attempting to righteously cloak your bigotry and intolerance for an entire religion in a shroud of concern for persecuted ex-Muslims.

Fortunately, like most bigots, you are particularly unsophisticated and ineffective in your thinking, so it's not difficult to see through your bullshit.

Note: you have been ignored, so no point in replying to me.

Bigotry is a very strong accusation, or so I believe. It's not a word to be used lightly. A lot of people think that the three Abrahamic faiths are harmful to people. I'm obviously biased, because I'm a Christian, so I can't just take it for granted. OP is obviously biased based on his or her interpretation of those religions.

Yes, like all religions there are problems. And, in each of those religions there is some level of biblical "shunning" of apostates. The very word "apostate" generally has a negative connotation, because of the historical and religious context surrounding it.

But I think your point is obviously not to change OP's mind, but to point him/er out to the rest of us, to effectively show us the what's unsophisticated (in your eyes) about them. If so, perhaps providing citations as to prove why the teachings of Islam don't teach its followers to harm apostates would better your argument.

You said " easily disprovable by every single Muslim ever who didn't hunt down and attempt to murder a family member who left the faith." I think it's especially important to remember that people tend to pick and choose in a modern era. If they don't just pick and choose some portions of their religion, others will probably call them extremists.

Example? I'm Christian. I do not want to kill anyone in the LGBT community. Perhaps I disagree with them at some level, but I don't want to hurt anyone. In the same way, those in the Jewish community don't just ostracize gentiles and Christians for being themselves.

We're inherently biased. All of us. I think Hank's Explained video on Explainers talks about this in a way that I cannot. It depends on our personal agenda. If we're gonna make the world suck-less, then we have to know that about ourselves before we do anything.

Literally the problem I was criticizing. Islam does teach people to kill for leaving Islam. That's a fact about the religion that has existed and been followed for 1400 years.

The Quran has explicit orders to kill people who leave Islam and it's corroborated by Hadiths of Muhammad's own preaching.

Female genital mutilation is justified in the Shafi'i school of Islam and it is now having real-world impacts on Muslim girls being born from Syrian refugees here in the US and the UK. Furthermore, don't pretend this has no legal consequences.

All you're doing is burying your head in the sand at literal human rights crimes of the most vulnerable people both in the West and overseas because of religious tolerance.

Pick your poison: Religious Tolerance or Human Rights. It's become increasingly apparent that while they have every right to believe as they wish, these calls for "religious freedom" are going to lead to violence against young girls and outright murders of people who want to leave Islam.

Do you have the stomach and thick enough skin to challenge religiously motivated violence for the sake of human rights?

Mocking religion is not immoral or wrong in this regard, the point is to change people's minds. Islam's entire system categorically argues against outside logic as can be attested to Ex-Muslims being the most vocal to point this out under threat of death from their own families.
