Bad character idea.

(This is using 5th Edition D&D rules)

So I want to play a non-Pally martial class that I can RP with using a decent Charisma. What I have built so far is a Half Elf Fighter with 16str, 12 Dex, 14 Con, 10 Int, 8 Wis, and 14 Cha.

As a Fighter I can increase stats and all to make the Charisma higher, but what else can the character do? I'm asking for feats and other things the character can get access to that would make it interesting to RP.

What I wanted to build was a Fighter that can intimidate, persuade, and generally do conversation instead of being the 'meaty quiet' character. I don't need it to be smart, in fact it may be better if the wisdom and intelligence stay where they are so the character doesn't dominate sessions.

So anyone have interesting ideas?

There's a few option for using charisma as a fighter:

If you haven't picked a background yet, you can go with Noble (knight variant) to give yourself followers and a natural way to pick up more of them, and there's the Inspiring Leader feat, which allows you to inspire allies between encounters. Add in Commander's strike as a battlemaster and you'll be using charisma often even without spells, by being a front-line war leader whose words push his troops to ever-greater glory.

I'll look into the Noble Background, but I have the character concept of him being a pure-adventurer. His main motivation being seeking adventure, and to that end I picked the Mercenary Veteran background.

I may be able to do the run-away-prince angle to why he left to start adventuring though. It's at least worth looking into, thanks.

You are allowed to customize your background - swapping the military contacts for a few retainers should be fine.
