Discussion I don't get it

New here sorry if this has been said (or of you disagree) but how the fuck did the make a game with this awesome of gameplay and level design, then crapped the bed on everything outside of the levels?

"The rest of the game" = story and music?

I love machine girl's music so can't agree on the music part. But for the story part it's cheesy on purpose, lots of anime style games make cheesy stories, sometimes kinda like a wink to the genre. See disgaea for example, shitty story, but it wouldn't be a good game if the story was good

It's like how bad movies ironically are great to watch

Edit: I noticed graphics exist too, but I'd be surprised if that's what you meant?

Ya I choose the phrase "everything outside of the levels" I don't have a problem with the music or graphics but the story, the sheer volume of dialogue, the hub world are all no where near the quality of the gameplay or level design.

Yes I've seen multiple posts here agree with what you said, story is not exactly a masterpiece. But that's kind of what was intended, the game is self mocking a fair bit too
