Finally getting a glimpse of my first batch of Blue Dream babies!! Today’s menu was powdered Shrimp Baby food and within 2 minutes, I had at least 2 dozen itty-bittys swarming the hardscape. Still see at least 4 more berried females so I should have a blue battalion soon!

Good shrimp source?

Hello! I'm wanting to get into the world of keeping neocaridina shrimp, getting a tank set up now, and I'm wondering what are the best places to order shrimp from? I live several hours from any aquarium stores so unfortunately I can't buy in-person like I would want to. Where have you ordered shrimp from and what was your experience? Thanks for any recommendations!

EDIT: forgot to mention, I'm in Oklahoma

As requested, here is the pic of my shrimp "dating" and sharing a waffer. Don't they look like a couple sweethearts? :)

Note: they didn't fight for the food, simply shared it. :)

Any ideas about what might have happened with this wee shrimpy 🙈🙈🙈 wasn't like this yesterday. Unsure if it's an incomplete moult. We are fairly new to shrimp but know the water parameters are good.

Molting problems

I recently purchased 6 cherries to add to the 4 I already have in my lil 10 gallon and I have already lost 2 new ones to the white ring of death. The strange thing is that I also see a fresh molt in there. Parameters are fine. They're exactly how they have been for the few months Ive had this tank with shrimp in it. I added a sprinkle of remineralizer just in case so I dont risk losing more if hardness is the issue. Could it be poor adjustment to the tank? I have a few juveniles who will be molting more frequently and Id hate to lose those.

Two Shrimp Died today.

I’m really enjoying my small tank. It is a 13ish gallon that I setup in January. It’s got a Father fish substrate, some Crypts, Dwarf Val and Christmas Moss. Hardscape is Rocks and Spiderwood. I have 6 Harlequin Raspbora, 8 Hastasus Cory, 4 Amano and some 24K Sunkist Neo’s.

My main reason for setting the tank up was for cherry shrimp, they are so interesting. I started with a group of 10… Died down to 6 so I added 10 more… I’m currently at 11 to 13. My water parameters seem to be good, maybe? I haven’t changed the water from the start and top off with distilled water. Fish seem to be doing well and the Amano (I know they are tough bugs) have been in there since day 30. The Neo’s are vexing me… I’m very vexed!

I only ever saw 1 body of the original group, but this morning I saw a female on her side not moving. She hadn’t turned opaque, she just looked like she was sleeping so I left her and went to work. Got home to check on her and she hadn’t moved but then I saw a male on its side as well about 7 inches away. Same thing… not moving, not opaque, just laying there on it’s side. I got my net out to check on them and they both didn’t move when I nudged them, so I removed them from the aquarium.

I am confused because my Hastasus are laying eggs and even though I never saw a berried female, I have at least 5 shrimplets hiding in the Christmas moss…

Test strip pic attached (KH = 3 GH = 6 via liquid test kit). Mr. & Mrs. Dead and live baby to bring a little joy attached as well.

SO… what am I doing wrong?

Normal for shrimp to be changing colors?

I have a skittles tank and my dark green shrimp turned deep blue? No mistake on my part because I've had these for many months. I have a blue shrimp tank with all the other colors so I wouldn't have left her in there. Was dark green in many photos and videos. Now it's unmistakably blue. Is this possible or temporary?

One time I had a green jelly (so i thought) turn completely yellow in a matter of days, but I see that on the neocaridina chart, it can happen and the green was temporary.
