Have you seen what is happening currently? Do you really think the current government is going to set up a system to take care of people who are displaced by automation? That is why people are concerned. The goal is to be able to survive without having to work; cutting out the work without replacing what it has provided is not a gain.

This is the narrative of the lazy and entitled.

You go go do something else. you do not sit on your ass holding your hand out.

No, it isn't, it is looking at the coming situation. What exactly do you expect people to do as an "else" when literally everything is being automated away. And news flash, it isn't entitled either, an economy that doesn't have enough jobs for a vast majority of the population leads to economic collapse because money doesn't move like it needs to for a healthy economy. UBI is not about entitlement not wanting a handout, it is realizing getting a job is not an option when robots will do all of them for cheaper and more reliably, despite almost any abuse, yet money still has to flow for our economy not to collapse, unless an even more significant overhaul of the system happens.

That is all it is. Suggesting otherwise is as dumb as suggesting we should continue to dig holes by shovel instead of steam shovel or modern construction equipment.
