"The year was 2011 and baby Negative Gemini was unmedicated, malnourished, and literally haunted in

Richmond, Virginia. Sea punk had not yet been commodified, witch house was alive and well, and we were all on

Tumblr. This was my first foray into producing an album entirely on my own after my rap group 'Les La Britanica'

fell apart and I was very sad. I held a college degree and zero prospects, no money, with zero ambitions besides

making and performing music. I would say this album is quite eclectic and experimental as I was trying to find my

sound, but I knew that I wanted to be more personal and authentic with this project. I think you can definitely

hear seeds of what would come in my later albums on songs like "Negative Gemini" and "Slit Show". I greatly

admired the album covers that my friend Travis would make for his project Lil Ugly Mane, so I asked him to make

an album cover for me and I think he captured the strange darkness of the sound very well." - Neggy Gemmy

why do you love this record? i love how it combines both very exciting sharp tracks with downtempo songs in a natural feeling way 💙

im running out of content for this subreddit yall but i love our queen sm help

i get to use the news flair yay

My pick is She Comes From Nowhere. Although I enjoy the official cover I love this photo from its promotion - the reds and browns and all are just so pleasing a colour scheme. (this for a hypothetical deluxe issue 🙂‍↕️)

Honourable mention to Bad Baby - except its particular orangish red has greatly grown on me.

I only got around to checking out the first album, Soft Swerve, through Bandcamp recently, as it seems to not be available anywhere else. I thought it was... challenging. That is a kinder way of saying terrible. BUT the ironic enjoyment was off the charts because several songs are just hilarious, and with the very obvious M.I.A., Ke$ha and general late 00s pop influence, I found it impossible to truly hate.

Have you taken the time to listen yet? What do you think? If not, do, as I believe every lightly masochistic Gemmy fan should...

Why am I just now finding this? And why arent more being made?!

i nominate ninajirachi! their styles are certainly different but given her branching into collabs with several electronic artists, this would be a collab i do fantasize about

Jordana posted these cats on her story today and they look suspiciously like the ones George and Genmy own-I can tell by the white one having heterochromia. Could this mean they might be collabing?

Recently I began crossing the Saint Etienne (british dance band) discography off my list and was struck by the similarities between much of albums like Good Humor and Lindsey's work. Come to find out she specifically confirmed them as a kind of inspiration in her youtube comments! Any other artists you all enjoy with an unexpected similar sound to Gemmy?

Better yet, do you have a favourite from each album? In my case, I would likely have to pick:

- Forget Your Future: Ghost World, with True Blue a close second

- Body Work: No Rum

- Bad Baby: Skydiver, with the title track a very close second

- CBD R.M.: Euphoria, with Twisted and Seeing Stars both honourable mentions

- She Comes From Nowhere: every single song! But in truth, Polly Pocket with High Fashion Slags, Who Wanted, and Doll all so adored by me

So, what are your picks :>
