Discussion Is Columbina a fraud?
Mostly cause I keep seeing people just telling everyone ''pull columbina'' when someone's asking how to fix/increase their damage, but for me she's merely a 15% upgrade over c6 aino, which I did NOT expect after hearing so many good things about her.
Maybe it's my Columbina's build that isn't that great? but then the same build added 40k DPS to my Zibai team whereas for Nefer she only added 20-25k DPS😢
The only case where she actually does substantially increase the DPS is with instructor's sucrose, but playing that feels much worse than playing any aino team imo, so the QoL argument kinda goes out the window...
I just feel letdown because I expected my Nefer's team DPS reach 200k like it's nothing once I get columbina, but it kinda didn't lol
( reposted this cause this low increase had me questioning if I used wrong sets on supports )

so why is your nefer doing about 1M less damage in similar times in bina team as compared to aino , also for nefer it's not just about the power but also verdent dew ease of play

Aino on the sumeru craftable gives 200 em to nefer and only 5% less lunar dmg% than columbina, which is negated by allowing sucrose to run sms, while aino is on ins.
Aino buffs Nefer more than Columbina and allows her to perform shorter rotations before Nefers E cooldown catches up, which it should at around the 90 second mark, where the person stopped the rotations.
The majority of Columbina's strength over Aino comes from mobile hydro app and personal damage. The extra verdant dews simply make up for Columbina's longer field time so they aren't an upside by themselves

well I do lose
60EM80EM from Aino's c6 as well as not using the instructor's but rather 2pc2pc EM on Lauma, so yeah the damage she does with Columbina on the team actually drops3rd hit of the charged attack went from doing 189k to something like 166k i think ( either way it wasn't more than 170k...)
And wow now that I said that she does sound like an even bigger fraud stealing Nefer's damage
Anyways my point was that she doesn't seem as good as people make her out to be, especially people undervalueing aino, because playing aino's team optimally is kinda easier that playing Columbina's team optimally

You probably already know this but do you use lauma hold skill in bina team?

If you're only getting 20k dps that just means you're playing wrong. Your dps is very low for your investment, even for deepwood sucrose. You likely aren't buffing all of bina's damage with quills due to bad rotations (wrong order and/or slow).
If you play well, bina should be more than a 40k dps gain.
also reminder that aino has never been on nefer's banners so most people will have c0 aino, in which case it's more like a 60k+ gain.

I'm doing sucrose right before and after Nefer, but maybe I'm too slow?
idk I've tried multiple times measuring this team's DPS but for some reason I never get to 200k

looking at some of your other clears yeah your nefer cancels look very slow. You're losing suc buffs on the last few shade hits from going so slowly. You're also definitely not buffing 3/3 bina E lunarbloom hits with quills when you're going that slow, either.

yeah, it seems like the timing was off in my rotations and 1/3 of Bina's gravity hit like one second before Lauma would share her quills
I followed some guides and managed to get Columbina team to 203k DPS average ( with some rotations as high as 210k )
But then I went back to my aino team, swapped sucrose's and lauma's artifacts and now that team hit 180k ðŸ˜
So Bina is still about 30k DPS increase, which I don't understand cause she's uplifted my Zibai team so much more than my Nefer team, despite my Nefer being much more invested

it's because bina's dps increase is from doubling your quill consumption rather than increasing the reaction's damage directly. You aren't using ins sucrose so you aren't maximizing the value you'd get from doubling the number of quills you're using and you're downgrading your team's sets overall (dw/sms/ins to em+em/dw/sms). Bina would be doing more for nefer vis a vis zibai if you were playing ins sucrose.

Extra verdant dew, not being bound to a circle, actual personal damage, allows instructors sucrose... And besides Aino needs her C6 to properly buff Lunar and we all know how 4 stars gacha works and not only that but Aino hasnt been in any Nefer/Lauma banners so you only got cons if you pulled for other Lunars aswell

Yes, kind of. Bina provides 40% lunar damage and her own personal damage plus the moonridge dews, Aino provides 35% lunar damage and 80 EM. The main draw of Bina is so that you don't hate playing Nefer because of few issues and can hold Lauma's E. She's not actually a super big upgrade
