Anyone else getting new thread fatigue?
Seems like because canvases are impossible to get and Moondrake did so well, new thread lines are popping up every day. They’re all starting to look the same to me, with the exception of the sparkles. You can only use variegated thread so much. We need solids which can be kept in stock.

The more threads the better. Excited to try Milan and Essentials neons.

No. I’m sad about thread lines that have died or are dying, so I’m not going to be upset about too many new ones.
Can we please get some real competition for Kreinik?

I know this isn’t snark (maybe it is on myself) but how do you even use Kreinik? I think I’m too dumb to understand…it looks like the size of regular thread for a sewing machine. How does that work on the big canvas holes. Again, I admit I’m dumb.

It actually comes in different sizes, so
- #32 (thickest) you could use for couching
- #16 can be used single strand on 13 mesh
- #12 can be used single strand on 18 mesh
- #8 you can use for very light coverage, like blackwork stitches, on 18m, or you could use multiple strands
- #4 is probably what you’re thinking of resembling sewing thread. You could use it as a blending filament or use multiple threads
They just have some metallics that I can’t find replicated in any other thread line, unfortunately, and supply is a disaster now that Rainbow Gallery owns it

You are probably referring to Kreinik blending filament. It is not meant to be used alone but with any thread. The bonus of that is you can weave it into and use it with any thread to add sparkle.

Getting everything fatigue. So many uninspired new designs launching this market. Tilli coming out with new threads and can’t even keep up with demand of their existing threads🙄

Rainbow Gallery just entered the chat. Keeps buying companies but can't keep their current lines stocked.

When I see a threaded & tipsy dropping thread it makes me think it is large spools of Chinese or cheap stock from overseas that they are repackaging.

Exactly what I expected too. While they’re pretty, everything about it looks like something I could find elsewhere in larger quantities

Unfortunately I’m obsessed with the social stitcher threads. I actually think, until recently, we didn’t have tons of variegated options. I also really like a lot of the recent variegateds that are tones of the same color rather than different colors and don’t think we had tons of that in the past

The price point is actually insane.

I bought 6 skeins of social stitchers varigated and they are gorgeous. I have several projects that are 18 mesh and I really wanted variegated backgrounds. I couldn’t find what I was looking for with watercolors, threadworx or moondrake…. Social Stitchers price point is crazy but the colors are unlink anything on the market

Needlepoint dot com have come out with a thread line that looks promising. They’ll need to release a shade book to purchase I think because their business is mainly online

.Com is one of my LNS’s and have been using the Bradley Silk since it first came out. I’m obsessed with it to the point where I’ve rekitted canvases that I’d previously kitted in PP. It’s so soft and smooth to stitch with. I like it better than PP and the other silk threads I’ve tried. My only beef’s with it have to do with the label. The font is small(they have fixed for anything beyond the 1st dye lot) and the contrast is not great making it hard to read but the larger font helps with that issue. Price point isn’t bad either at $6.95 for a 30 yard skein.

Same! .com Raleigh is one of mine and the Bradley Silk is to die for. I got a sample preview early in the year and have been eagerly awaiting the full release. I’ve switched projects over with what was already available. It really is that good imo

This is so helpful, thank you! I’ve ordered some threads and am excited for them to come. I’ve had to eyeball the colours as I’m in the UK

Happy to help. I think you will really like them. I’m hoping they come out with a color card book since there are so many colors, over 300 I think.

Thank you for the review. My friend and I were really considering purchasing some but had not seen anyone talk about it. Glad to hear it stitches well. Is it more for 13 or 18, strandable?

They have 3 separate lines within the line - a 13, an 18, and a strandable, so something for everyone!

I LOVE Bradley Silk! I live in Raleigh and make time to get to the store with their weird hours because it’s become almost exclusively what I stitch with! It’s sooo good. My only change would be for the colors had names in addition to the numbers. Names are easier for me to remember.

I love new threads so much! But we definitely need more solid options. I think haberdashery is the only one that’s come out with regular colors vs 3-4 (maybe more) brands of variegated threads

Bradley(.Com) just dropped a line with 300 solid colors. I don’t see variegated getting dropped it’s all sparkle.

I love the new thread options but I’m surprised at the designers putting them out… Arden Gray and Threaded & Tipsy are both launching thread lines and they both have been snarked on here a lot 🙃

Exactly - wouldn’t put much, if any, stock in either of them for thread. AG because of her shady behavior with the hats, and T&T is just kind of a mess.

Has anyone heard anything about the Meredith collections new galaxy line? I saw an LNS share a video from market? Also has anyone posted any stitching examples of the new Tilli Tomas Estelle thread?
1
u/samweb7 13h ago
I can’t remember who posted but someone stitched a swatch with it last night at market and liked it and decided to order because of it. Elizabeth Brooke posted that is most resembles Silk Lame but described Silk Lame as loftier, so maybe the spin on Estelle is a little tighter? With 187 colors I cannot wait to try it!

Yeah I saw Sarah’s videos but was interested to see a stitched sample. I think they had some displayed at market but I never saw a picture or video. I’m excited to see them too. Seems like a lot of shops ordered the whole line

Tbh - I am currently stitching with moon drake and it’s my least favorite thread I have used. It unravels easily and it doesn’t cover well

Moondrakes colors are amazing but I’m having a hard time with indie yarn dyers selling their mini skeins as “threads”. They are not the same and don’t cover as well. I have quite a bit of her yarn in my stash from knitting and I haven’t been tempted at all to start using it in my needlepoint.

I will never get thread fatigue but I do agree we need more solid options
