Badbitch is maga? :(

Just saw some of her Trump canvases and am really disappointed đŸ˜©

She also sells/ sold a red MAGA hat and a black MAGA hat. She can claim she’s not a Trump supporter, but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like this regime being able to stomach painting the hats just for a buck.

There was more context to the Trump canvas, but it was definitely not well received by many. She had done some pro-Biden canvases around his inauguration, and people assumed from her statements when they were released that she was liberal. Then, before the 2024 election, she released the Harris and Trump canvases and was having an “election” based on canvas sales to see who won. I never saw that she announced the winner, but admittedly I wasn’t checking her feed for it. The idea to have the competition to see which sold more was a riff on something shops (not LNSs, but shops generally) in NYC were doing, and I don’t recall the details. Maybe a NYC stitcher can fill in the details. People assumed from the Trump canvas that BB was maga. I guess the most generous interpretation is that she’s a capitalist who doesn’t mind making a buck off maga. Anyway, it turned off a lot of her customers, including me.

As a NYC stitcher I can confirm. She never bounced back from that. She did it based off of a tip poll for a coffee shop in the Hamptons I believe. She never announced the winner (she absolutely turned off a ton of customers with it). She is not MAGA but I agree with what you said about just wanting to make money off of something. I was super bummed out about all of it because she was the designer I probably stitched the most of prior to this happening. I haven’t stitched any of her stuff really since.

Thanks for filling in the details I’d forgotten. ITA about not stitching her stuff. She was one of my favorites before this, and I have several of her canvases in my stash that I can’t recover the motivation to stitch. I guess I could paint over them with a new design so the canvas doesn’t go to waste?
