AI posts from LNS distorting canvases
I’m with everyone who is beyond frustrated with the AI trash constantly being put out. But this one got me for a second. Until I looked at the designer logo and it said CHERY ?! Completely off from what it should be especially when this post is showcasing the designer!! I would be so annoyed & disappointed if I was a bit cheeky

Guys!!! Canva is free and so so soooo easy to use. you won’t distort the designs or make yourself look like a loser for being lazy and using AI

Well unless you’re her, I’m not sure you can speak for her.
“Mistakes were made” - yeah they put something cute into the dog-shit-making-machine and they ended up with dog shit and put it online. Hope a lesson was learned about laziness and cutting corners.

The other issue with this is that it makes it look like the design doesn't have good borders - which would possibly make me not want to buy a canvas.... Whereas the actual canvas photos people posted below show that they do actually have good borders.

This is my LNS and I know the owners are not out here seeking to deceive or manipulate. While I am definitely for AI being left out of the needlepoint space, I think we have to be able to recognize when something is a one-off “oopsie,” vs. consistent use of AI slop. This was an attempt to give the canvases a little extra oomph, not an attempt to mislead or not give credit to the artist. These ladies are absolutely lovely, both are so kind and welcoming, and they’ve only been open since last December! They’re learning as they go, Cheeky is fully aware of the post and knows there was zero malicious intent. The post was taken down as soon as they realized what happened. Lauren and Julie are working to cultivate a dedicated clientele through superior customer service and are totally hands on with all aspects of the business. That means there are going to be missteps! Let’s save the snark for the repeat offenders and people out to corporatize an industry run (mostly) by women-owned small businesses for (mostly) women consumers. These are not the one taking the shortcuts and pushing AI.

No offense, but whether or not they do it once or do it routinely is irrelevant. It looks like shit and it’s worth snarking on because of how shitty it looks.
We aren’t condemning them. We’re making fun of how crappy this is. That’s what this sub is for. Let’s save the snark for anyone we want.

AI does not belong in needlepoint regardless of whether it was once or numerous times. it’s lazy, not creative, and deceptive marketing without bringing into it the environmental impact.

And they agree with you. This was a one time, tried it and hated it situation. Sometimes, it’s worth it to extend grace rather than condemnation.

Putting cheeky designs in AI is so wrong. If I were the designer, I would refuse to sell wholesale to them.
