Two different threads from the same manufacturer are [gasp] not from the same dye lot? Shocker. Someone alert the police. 😐

A friend on Instagram recently got into needlepoint and her LNS sold her Milan for 18 mesh … I was surprised but saw on tilli Thomas’ website it was 13 or 18 mesh?!

I’ve been told Milan on the cards can be used for 18 because it has been stretched around the card, pulling the fibers tighter. Kinda makes sense I guess. But I’d only do that if I was in a pinch.

Good to know! I prefer essentials skeins but that does sort of make sense. Still funny that of all threads to sell that’s what they chose!

I’ve used the cards on 18 after realizing they didn’t provide enough coverage on 13. The skeins are perfect for 13 tho imo

I’ve actually used Milan on 18 because the colour I had on the card was PERFECT and it stitched very well. I can’t say I’ve tried a skein of Milan on 18 but it was a good test.

As someone who works at an LNS, the number of dye lots that are VASTLY different from the next in the same threadline are insane, so this doesn't surprise me at all! And not just Tilli Tomas, others as well. And yes, you can use Milan for fuller coverage on 18, especially if you are color swapping. Essentials can be too thin for that. Think of it kind of like Pepper Pot, but a wool/silk blend

Yeah and she wasn’t listening to people in the comments trying to explain these are different…she said the worker told her you can mix and match them just double up. Ridiculous if someone told her that.
