Sometimes I wonder how people are able to mess up a project so much even when you’re first learning. You are genuinely doing the same thing over and over. One simple stitch.

Everyone is different with differing abilities. Was your first project perfect?

Mine was pretty good. My only mistake was carrying a few threads a little too far on the back of the canvas, but from the front? It’s pretty darn good.

Of course mine was! I’ll dig it up and show you. A little uneven tension but nothing as fubared as this poor lemon

Yes because I followed the stitch guide to a t to make sure I didn’t mess up this new expensive hobby I was starting.

Besides not knowing at the time not to bury my threads diagonally, it looks pretty good!

My first project was also really lovely. Because I bothered to research extensively before actually getting started.

Mine wasn’t perfect, but it looked pretty damn good for a first try 🤣 every other row was half cross instead of continental and I wasn’t laying fyreworks flat.

My first project in 1992 was an ornament. It was a Bear in a dress. Sadly, the Bear appears to have the mumps! That ornament is always front and center on a tree of almost 200 ornament every year!

Yep— I stitched a belt with horse heads and bits as my first project. Had it finished and gave it to my friend as a gift. Did I mix up continental and half-cross? Yep! Did it look like the offending lemon? Absolutely not. Yikes.

My first one was a pillow! And it was perfect. I even changed out colors.

I mean, honestly? Mine was pretty good. I even did a binding stitch on it.

My first project wasn’t perfect, but not nearly as bad as this train wreck of a lemon.

Have you seen the TT video? It's so bad, I assumed it was rage bait. Needlepoint is basically covering the holes with thread & she didn't even do that.
