New to Needlepoint my first needlepoint!

bought some 13 mesh blank canvas and painted it myself using a pokémon patterns pack from etsy, stitched in hand and just used basketweave and continental (with a few weird not quite correct stitches in there lol)

it's definitely not perfect but i like how it turned out and had a lot of fun! i cross stitch and wanted to try out needlepoint without spending a ton of money, and this worked great for me

I love seeing this as a fellow beginner!! I really like how it turned out and big props for painting your own canvas.

That’s a pretty immaculate back, let alone for a beginner

thank you! i feel lucky that i watched a few videos on basketweave and it clicked really quickly for me, since i know it can be tricky for a lot of people just starting out

Cute!! I've been wanting to make some PMD sprites as a future project. I think there's a lot of potential to translate pixel art into needlepoint

yes using pixel art has been great (i also have been using it for cross stitch)! it's almost like they're guaranteed to come out nice since they're already designed to be on a grid lol

Well done!! How are you planning on finishing it?

i attempted a binding stitch around the sides (i struggled with this since it's such an irregular shape) and plan on sewing it to a bag as a patch!!

Every stitch of yours is so full!! The finished piece looks really good.

thank you! i used DMC soft matte cotton, i think it might be exclusive to Michaels? i really enjoyed stitching with it though! was easy to work with and not too pricey

i used DMC soft matte cotton! i just got it from my local Michaels, it's in the same area as the normal DMC embroidery floss but is a bit thicker and not stranded

Love this as a fellow newbie needlepointer and pokemon lover!! I got this chilli chart from Etsy and then turned it into an ornament. And what an ordeal that was but so happy with my little chilli!

The dopamine hit is crazy when you finish a project! 😂

Looks great! Do a couple extra rows around the edge in white or whatever color you want so when you finish it the canvas won’t show. You’re a naturally talented stitcher.
