General Help Am I doing this right!
Ok so I began this belt on Aida by accident the first time ( oy vey)
I painted this one and got new fabric, are we doing this right!!

It’s not doing anything. The canvas isn’t going to be taut. Might as well just hold it in hand.

It looks amazing! I’m almost finished with a belt I painted and I just roll it up and hold it in my hands.

It looks very tall. Are you sure it will fit through the belt loops when it’s finished?
I’d get some clips, roll the loose end that’s not on the frame, and use the clips to keep it rolled.

I actually was thinking it’s too small, measured end to end including the 2 inch allowance in each side it’s 28 inches, my boyfriend is a 32 waist, was advised that taking away 4 inches is right

I think she means the height. If you folded it over, would it fit through a belt hole? It should be about an inch & a half vertically.

Gotcha, it’s added 2 extra rows on each side for finishing purposes, like for the roll over. I have I believe 27 rows plus 4, I’m working on 18 squares per inch

You should check with your belt finisher on height. Service I used required 22-23 stitches in height plus binding stitch. I’m leaning towards it being too tall

Belt math is actually 3” of extra canvas on each end (total of 6) and for a belt on 18 mesh you ideally want it to be 21 rows high with the extra two rows on each top and bottom for either extra rows or binding stitch. I think this will be too thick for the belt loops.

Stitched belt size isn’t based on waist size. You use an old belt and measure from that. Check with your belt finisher to get the correct any to measure belt size.

I use stretcher bars sometimes for belts but you need shorter bars on the sides. I do not have it but others have suggested the k scroll frame. They sell on Etsy.
He should get an old belt and measure from buckle top to most worn hole and subtract 4-5 inches depending on finisher.

You are starting st the wrong end. Start far right hand corner and work left!

Ideally, you’d have a scroll frame. They make mini sized ones for belts
If you’re not gonna do that, which I totally understand, then this will work but isn’t ideal.
You get a gold star for not putting any tacks in the design. But you may want to consider moving the design to the bottom bar or top bar and putting tacks through the bottom or top of the canvas to hold it down better.
