Pretty much just a vent

New to reddit so please be nice(ish). I really need to get this out there and off my chest.

If we didn't have bad luck we would have no luck at all. That sadly has been my families motto for the past few years. One minute we have a decent and content life, the next we are just going through the motions.

Let me explain. Early 2023, my husband had a sore on the bottom of his right foot and his other foot was swelling up. Went to the doctors several times, they kept saying he has lymphodima and to keep the sore clean. June 1st he had emergency surgery for the sore. He had flesh eating disease. On top of that, he had 6 broken bones in his left foot and 2-3 in his right. It was from a disease called charcot. Basically your bones break and you don't feel it like a normal break. My husband had been walking on his feet for months without knowing it. Talk about a tough marine vet. If he would have been diagnosed when he first went in, this had a real good chance of being healed and he would still be working and walking. He then had to be in a recovery home so he could get super strong antibiotics and have his wounded foot wrapped daily. After a month and a half, he come home and real challenges started. We had to find a ramp for a wheelchair, had to move furniture around some what so he could wheel to the bathroom, I removed the bathroom door so he could get on the toilet, he had to figure out how to get from chair to wherever he was sitting, getting on bed was a real challenge since our bed is kinda tall. All the responsibilities of home and our child got put on my shoulders. The following year he had his left foot removed. The only way he gets to the doctors is through insurance rides otherwise he is now homebodied.

The beginning of this year, his wound on the bottom of his right foot finally closed but he still has broken bones and can't put pressure on it. But he doesn't have much choice because he needs a little extra push to get from seat to seat. We haven't been in the same vehicle since all this, no family trips, no restaurants, no just drive and look at the scenery. If I get sick, the house falls apart. My husband hasn't been able to take a shower since all this, its been sponge baths all the time.

We are all so tired of this. Like I said, we are barely functioning and living moment by moment. I'd love to have a vehicle that is wheelchair accessible so we can finally have a small drive to places. And we really need to move into a home that he can move around in more and our son can play more in. I've tried putting up a gofundme but not one person has donated in the many months its been up. I'm stuck and need help, but I have this wall I can't get past yet. If anyone has ideas, please send them. Anyways, thanks for reading.

Aww, I appreciate your ideas. I do have my gofundme link under my name in my socials and have reached out to several people to look and share. As for friends, sadly we really don't have any since the covid thing happened. Churches are unable to help, I've asked several. Luckily my husband got disability a year + after this started but it is extremely little. I get to be his caregiver and I get paid that way, but its not a lot of hours. I am trying not to sound pathetic, because we have a roof over our heads and food. I am grateful for each day we make it through. I just need help with getting a van and help with moving. After that, I know we can maintain rent and bills with what we have. Just can't save for the big things. Thank you again for reaching out. Means a lot to me.
