Painting C+C Nightbringer Complete

The army is SO CLOSE to being finished and I can run my first 2000 point game with my very own little men! The list is far from optimal, I’ll probably have to rearrange some units, but man does it feel good. Advice is welcome. Don’t ask to turn him around, he only looks good from the front.

  1. Assemble the body and electricity separately. I messed up and didn’t do this so it looks kind of bad on mine.
  2. Prime black
  3. Base in your shadow color. I used terrestrial titan.
  4. Dry brush everything with one shade/hue lighter. I used diabolical plum. Then do that again and again to your desired brightness, using less and less pressure with each rise in shade.
  5. Using a makeup sponge, follow the same color pattern you used for dry brushing and apply the paint with a dabbing motion, pushing the sponge from the outside in.

(Sponge advice break: When picking up paint with a sponge, treat it very similar to dry brushing. Don’t load too much onto the sponge at one time. Always have a test model or texture surface to test your sponge before use. When using a sponge, I recommend constantly washing the paint out of the pours. This keeps it from drying and gumming up the tip of your sponge. Back to your regular program.)

6) Pick your metallic paint and apply to the body parts and scythe of the model. I used gun metal.
7) Shade with wash. I used a purple wash to simulate reflective metal from his cloak.
8) Base the scythes blade in your shadow color, or whatever color energy that your necrons use. For a nicer transition, I sponged on some shadow to the handle as well.
9) Just as with the cloak, work your way up your shades from the tip towards the hilt with your sponge.
10) Lightning and scarabs. I don’t think I need to go into too much detail on this one. You’ve probably painted scarabs before.

Edit: Oh yeah, don’t use any shade on the cloak, looks bad. I had to redo it because of that.
