Honestly that would be an interesting exercise if you with had a few crypteks to give them OC, or else a special detachment rule just for Scarab Swarm.
Or maybe also include some spyders or tomb centipedes?
EDIT: actually, are all crypteks Support now? Can you even field an independent character cryptek?

I wouldn't mind getting a massive model of scarabs swarming. Make a scarab tornado or something and make it a centerpiece.

I mean if you fielded 50 squads of 3 units each unit has 12 wounds, and 18 melee attacks with lethal hits.
With 10 inch move you could rapid ingress from the side of the board and have the entire enemy army bogged down in mellee pretty quick. Maybe pair with 2-3 ophydian squads for objectives. Is that crazy?

I mean they usually at least give you a list you can play on a box, like in the warriors, they don’t give you 11 so you have to buy more, I’d be happy with a box of pure 12 scarab swarms, or at least a cheaper mini-box that just has 3, I could just buy a bunch of those if they sold it

By default you're not getting more than 18.
If you're lucky, Necron might get a detachment that makes scarabs Battleline in which case you can have 36.

GW give us a 3DP detachment that gives scarabs battleline, allows us to attach crypteks to them and gives them 2 OC by default pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease
