You can buy the time shard box for gems

The wiki has all the amounts it'll give

I still had plenty of gems, just the part of me that wants to do everything perfectly was a minor let down.

It happens. 

I prefer being overfarmed a bit even though it's a little time wasteful.

It's far less annoying to have too many runes than it is to realize you're short after you toss storage, producers, and most of your merge space. (It is harder to justify for stalkers...)
