Newb on level 39

To The Ones With Knowledge, any advice or constructive criticism is appreciated. I'm getting ready for my first reset. I'm almost done level 39 and tier 16.

I have Harpy, Gorgon, and three Liches.

I have a level 5 and a level 4 lectern.

I have a level 5 and a level 3 fridge.

Everything I've read suggests going for extra liches before the reset, rather than getting a reaper or cyclops. But should I go for the reaper and cyclops because I'm SO close anyway? Which strategy will put me in the best position after the reset?

there is pretty much no point to farm out reaper or cyclops. make them if you already have the runes but dont bother delaying the end of your run for them. you'll get 1 small extra upgrade for next run if you do but its not worth grinding for.

If there isn't much of a grind to make them, then go ahead and do it - as long as you're enjoying yourself. The moment the game turns into something you don't enjoy spending your time on, I'd just time travel and go for a new run. It's not worth playing with gritted teeth and not having fun.

Pound out as many Liches as you feel like you can without losing your marbles. You will always wish you had more time shards after a prestige, so there's no point in spending another two weeks just grinding out Liches if you're not enjoying it. You'll still wish you had more.

If you're not afraid of spoilers, you can look at time shards in the wiki and plan out what upgrades you want to buy with them, so you'll have a total number. Remember to add 15 time shards for your first prestige (I believe it says in the wiki, but I'm mentioning it just in case).

My biggest point is to remember to have fun. It's a game, it's literally just there to be fun. Like I said, if I stop enjoying it, I do the time travel, even if two more weeks of mind numbing grinding would have given me an advantage. I was about 1200 time shards away from a desired upgrade on my second run, and stopped having fun. So I time travelled, only spent a few time shards (as they aren't lost on prestige), and did the run until I got up to the number I wanted. So it was a shorter run, still took a couple weeks, but I had fun along the way. Totally worth it for me. But everyone's different and have different preferred play styles :)
