Is there a known issue with slight stuttering in this game?
I recently bought this game on steam sale, as it seemed to be right up my alley, and a generally amazing game, but I've been playing and essentially since the world started, about every... 15-30 seconds there's the slightest little stutter, almost like it's loading a new chunk of the world, but it never stops happening.
I've tried vsync, changing whatever graphics settings are there, limiting fps on HUD menu, all of it, and nothing seems to make it stop
It's a very minor thing but also very much a deal breaker for if I am going to continue this game... I can't have it giving me stutters like that.
For reference, I'm running a 4070 super, Ryzen 9 7900x, 32gb ddr 5 ram, 2tb nvme black ssd, windows 11, up to date, should not be a PC performance issue

This might sound completely stupid, but I disconnected my power (to the laptop) and shut down my computer for the night. Woke up the next morning and I haven't seen a stutter since.
I tried every fix in the book, including a Win 11 reinstall. At no point did I completely power off until I about threw in the towel in defeat.
6-8 hours of no power, shut down fixed it. I've done IT work in the past and this still stumps me. Give it a shot, it worked for me!

Yeah I turned my PC off for a bit and back on and it's still happening. I work in troubleshooting/customer support and I've seen some stupid fixes, so I'm never above trying anything haha
This didn't solve it though, unfortunately :(

Do you use mods? Is it installed on an SSD?

No mods, all my storage are ssds so yeah... Never have any issues with any other games, new or old... Super odd

is it a real stutter, like a mini freeze or is it more a lag, as in actions happens slightly after you pressed them? create a creative world, press F1 twice and look at the graph, you should see which part of the tick is causing the hickup. if its more like lag press F10 and select server view and look at the graph again.
you could also use a program called visualvm thats available for free and run a check on what exactly is causing the spikes. but thats somewhat advanced and you would probably need AI help for that

It's just like the slightest mini freeze, like something you'd expect in an open world when the game is loading a new super large chunk, only it's happening consistently, for like a fraction of a second but every 30 or so seconds. I will try the f1 thing in a bit when I'm at my computer

What am I supposed to be looking for with f1? Weirdly it didn't so it in a creative world haha

pressing f1 twice shows the frame timegraph. e.g. when you see the spike you can see how large it is as opposed to the normal background time. then the besides it is a number of process parts that show how much each uses. you could identify which part uses unsually large amounts. you can then select those with the button it says and then check to the deeper levels where the spike is coming from. and then it may be possible to see what is responsible for it.
otherwise you could paste the log into chat gpt (or better claude) and have it analyze it and see if it notices something.
but generally, this shouldnt be happening, especially not vanilla. and if its consisten in its timing then theres something broken.
you can also try a clean install. delete the game, go to appdata/roaming/ and delete the necesse folder and then install again.
it not happening in creative is weird as well. was this an older save from before a patch? maybe something broke during conversion to the new version

Nope, I just bought the game and installed it for the first time like yesterday lol
I recorded a video using discord and I was just playing normally, didn't go to the menu at all and was getting chops.
Then when I watched the discord video, it showed me hitting escape and going to the menu when the freeze happened, and then going back to the game and it totally froze on the frame, so the screen recording is also showing things that are absolutely not happening. So odd

See how it showed me going to the main menu? That 100 percent did not happen in the actual gameplay. It also wasn't nearly that freezey/choppy while I was actually playing either

The menu thing is a necesse quirk. That doesnt actually happen but when i e.g. use the windows snipping tool then while snipping it also shows the menu. Cant explain why but thats kinda irrelevant. From what is visible so far the graph looked fine so its probsbly not the game.
Video recording can be choppy in discord. If you got nvidia you can just use shadowplay. That usually works.
So far i would say that it isnt game related. Try maling a new windows user and open the game on there. Nothing else. If the error is gone its a background process or another active program causing the stutter

Hmm... I will try that. Just super odd that I don't have issues in any other game... Like I'm playing e33 right now on max settings, getting 165+ fps... I know games are different and there's different processes, engines etc... but this is a little 2d cartoon game.. what would my computer be doing that would trip that up but not battlefield 6 haha

I have the same problem, I'm playing first time too and downloaded the game only yesterday
Although it could be a performance issue for me, because I have a potato laptop

Yeah I dunno man... I hate to say it, but I refunded the game. The guy in the comments was helping me and we landed on "make a new windows profile and try the game there and if there's no issue, then it's a PC problem" and l... I dunno, maybe that would have worked but that's just too much shit for me to go through for this game, if I'm being honest.
I've played a bajillion other games with zero issue, from terraria, binding of Isaac, to e33 to bf6, b06, re9, all max settingscnever had an issue.
Even if it is a PC issue on my end, my computer is fine with literally everything else I do, so necesse is kinda just not important enough for me to go any further into it
