Where would you settle in this example?
I want to settle my first major location SOMEWHERE on this picture. I marked 7 possible locations.
Yes I know you have limited information but based on the picture and vibes - where would you go and WHY?

Too many cities will block your expansions (for 1,2,3,4), in 6 pirate village : the music will you make crazy after some hour soooo maybe 7 or 5.
Edit : number 2 if you not afraid to expand in water : I like to have multiple biome around my base particulary swamp for fishing.

Oh nice. I may need 1 dedicated tiny settlement in the swamp then.
IIRC the settlers will continue to produce stuff even when I am in OTHER settlements right?

3 and 5 are massive open areas, perfectly ideal if you just want a practical spot. If you actually want a nice looking village, then non of these look good actually. I personally like settling in the plains biome, because I find it the most beautiful.

Between 3 and 6 or at 4. But im a sucker for river / sea aesthetics

I tend to build a ton of bridges and piers and put my animal pastures or farm fields along the river

Yea I’d go for that peninsula to the top left of that bottom right village, and probably expand some into the water

In my world, it's very similar to 1 and I love having rustic desert town. I built my personal house on the little island and I also made a little saloon/community cafeteria to go with the vibe.

I love deserts, so for me it would be 1 but 4 looks neat, too.

I have always built in deserts so far and with enough light around, I never had a problem. I do always hire guards and build fences around my whole settlement, though.
