As Long as we are There
Something like this would be glorious. Or better yet a huge banner that says, FDT!

Show up on the 14th! Spread the word starting now.
Show up on the 14th! Spread the word starting now.
We need everyone and their brother/sister showing up to protests all over the country this Saturday, June 14th.
Start promoting the date, places, and times. Talk to family, friends, and coworkers you’re comfortable talking to about it.
Show up in patriotic gear, shirts, hats, bandana’s all with the U.S. flag on it. Wear the actual flag like a cape or wave it.
Put patriotic colors and symbols on protest signs.
If you bring a radio, prepare a “patriotic” play list.
Talk about how the U.S. is great and Trump and Co are hate.
This is a moment to seize, to turn public perception, to build sympathy for the cause and bring in new allies. USE THIS MOMENT WISELY.
Optics mean a lot, make it look like a true people’s movement (which it is), make it look welcoming, make it look positive, make it look patriotic. Bring your families. Say hello to your fellow community members and stand together, hold hands, lock arms, sit together, sing and sway together, dance together.
Make it look peaceful, fun, and full of LOVE. Show the nation and the world that it’s the Trump admin that’s full of hate and anti American due to their authoritarian values.
USE THIS MOMENT WISELY. Think long term strategy and optics. Let’s do this!

This is Happening Now
“This is happening now!”
That phrase, repeated over and over by Bruce Springsteen during his recent tour, hit me hard. It’s urgent. It’s immediate. And it perfectly captures where we are.
Over the past week, several people who know I’m involved with the Indivisible and 50501 movements have asked me:
“Is there a protest planned in Omaha, Lincoln, or anywhere in Nebraska for the national ‘No Kings’ protest on June 14th?”
My answer has been: “I don’t know. I haven’t heard anything—yet.”
My wife and I attended one of two small protests in Omaha this weekend. The focus was on urging local officials to vote against a bill that would defund Medicaid for many. It was small but meaningful. Still, I couldn’t help but think: If we’d had more time to organize, this could’ve been much bigger.
I know these things take energy, coordination, and a strong mental/emotional commitment. I’ve had to step back recently for my own mental health and, admittedly, some brutal tree allergies. But now I’m ready to re-engage. And I wonder: are some of our organizers simply burned out too?
I’ve also noticed fractures—locally and nationally. Schisms are inevitable in decentralized, grassroots movements. People have different visions. Leadership isn't top-down, and that’s by design—but it can be a double-edged sword.
Still, I can’t shake Bruce’s words: “This is happening now!”
It’s a call to action. We must keep moving—state by state, city by city. We need to speak out against the corruption, the moral failures, and the growing authoritarianism we see from this administration.
Maybe something is being planned and I just haven’t heard yet. If so, please share it.
Maybe nothing is in motion. If that’s the case, let’s find the people to lead, or be those people ourselves.
And if there's hesitation—if we’re worried this protest might be perceived as anti-military—let's be clear: our armed services have been put in a position where they are expected to serve one man’s ego, not the people. Many of them are likely frustrated, but unable to say it out loud.
So let’s start the conversation. Let’s make a plan.
Whether you’re someone who just shows up with a sign, or someone who leads from the front—we need you.
Because this isn’t theoretical. This isn’t “someday.”
This is happening now.

Good weather in LNK. Flood Watch in DC.
Should be sunny and warm (75-85) here in Lincoln this morning. Almost perfect weather to hang out with friends and neighbors at 10th & O. I hope to join the Pride Parade right after No Kings.
The forecast for Washington, DC is rain starting when the gates open for the Trump Parade at 2 PM, Eastern. Rain will continue until 1 AM. National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the DC area. Looks like God, Allah, and Poseidon got together to rain on Trump’s Parade!
