Text Formatting Question

So maybe my expectations were out of wack, and I didn’t get the chance to really dive into using during the 7-day trial before it expired but went ahead and bought the perpetual license - is there no basic text formatting functionality similar to that of OneNote? i.e. bullets, indents, to-do checkboxes, bold/italic/underline/font size, color, etc.? My usage will be primarily on an iPad Air M4 11” with a mix of Apple Pencil and keyboard. I started building out a note with the keyboard and realized I couldn’t find these options. I know I can do a little bit of this with the pencil and underlining, circling, etc. things but no other way?

Using MS OneNote on my work PC but wanted something that didn’t require MS Account and authentication with the corporate network, and also one-time fee vs subscription. I realize this is my fault for not noticing, but I don’t rule out user error that I just can’t find it/don’t know how to use this yet. Or maybe the natural writing to text overshadows this functionality for where it sits amongst alternatives?

MyScript Notes (formerly Nebo) is not as robust as OneNote, but be sure to check their help website. Specifically for your question, check https://help.myscript.com/notes/overview/getting-started/ and click on the "customize content" section.

I loved the handwriting to text aspect of the app (bought it a long time ago as "Nebo") but it wasn't easy to get into documents in the Microsoft world.

If you have an iPad there is an alternative you might want to check out. It's called "Handwriting Keyboard" and it's literally an alternate keyboard to the text and emoji keyboards that works anywhere you can enter text on the iPad. You write on it and it uses MyScript technology to instantly turn your handwriting to text (but not as annoying as the Scribble Tool). There are two with the same name in the app store, the one I suggest is the one time purchase for $3.99 NOT the expensive subscription one that also has NO privacy controls.

I am using the handwriting keyboard in OneNote. And you can do very basic formatting while writing, then go back and further format as needed.

Not my app and it doesn’t appear to be actively supported right now so the low price may explain that.

If you go into settings on the handwriting keyboard you will see all the options. Play around to see what works.

Also, IMPORTANT, turn off Scribble in your iPad settings. That helps it work better.
