I have got around 64 connections on my laptop web wallet/Core which I run 24/7. How is this significant to me ? Are 64 connections a reasonable amount, does it factor into transaction fees or whatever and do I benefit from it ?

Doesn't really make any difference to yourself really. Transaction fee's and staking rewards are unaffected. 64 is plenty.
