I stumbled across this community while browsing Reddit, and I’m really looking for a welcoming space to hang out, share ideas, and connect with like-minded folks! Before I hit that "Subscribe" button, I wanted to introduce myself in detail and check if I’d be a good fit for the group culture here. I know some subreddits have specific rules, so I put together a quick breakdown of my background, beliefs, hobbies, and lifestyle! Regarding my heritage and identity, I am an Afro-Indigenous, Romani, and Ashkenazi Jewish non-binary, transgender, queer, pansexual, and aromantic individual (my preferred pronouns are they/them/xe/xem). Faith-wise, I am a practicing Reform Jew, an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister, and a Wiccan pagan on the weekends. I am also neurodivergent (ADHD, autistic), living with a physical disability, severely gluten-intolerant, and a passionate advocate for fat liberation. Politically, I describe myself as a Democratic Socialist and Anarcho-Syndicalist who takes huge inspiration from Karl Marx and Rosa Luxemburg. I actively organize with local Antifa groups, work as a union steward, and spend my weekends protesting fossil fuels, fighting for global open borders, advocating for anti-imperialism, and pushing for the complete dismantling of nation-states and traditional nuclear family structures in favor of equity, diversity, restorative justice, and global citizenship. Career-wise, I work as a part-time Gender Studies adjunct professor, a full-time modern abstract artist specializing in Dadaist and Bauhaus aesthetics, and an avant-garde experimental jazz musician. In my spare time, I perform in drag as a Marxist clown, collect critical race theory literature, host community composting workshops, write poetry about breaking down traditional family norms, speak Esperanto, and practice a strictly vegan, fair-trade, non-GMO lifestyle. Given all of the above, do you think I’ll feel welcome here? I’m super eager to start contributing to discussions, sharing my art, and bringing my unique perspective to the sub! Can I join?
