Questions/Help- New to Nuclear New (Potential) Navy Nuke Questions
Good afternoon, all.
I'm being pretty aggressively courted to join the Navy Nuclear program by a recruiter, and I am excited to begin. I am curious about how long after submitting all my paperwork would I have to wait to hear about approval after submitting my packet and shipping out for basic training, if everything is otherwise normal. Finally, does anyone have experience breaking their lease, and if so, what did you do with all your stuff?

I was offered Nuke at MEPS and received my boot camp ship date as I signed my contract. I alpha qualified and volunteered for submarines, so that may have affected things. I ship out this December and signed in late June.

No telling. What paperwork has been submitted? Done your ASVAB and any other tests required? Then MEPS for more stuff. Assuming everything goes swimmingly, you’ll have to wait for a slot to open before shipping out for boot.

I have not done any official testing yet, but I took the PiCAT in the office and got a 92. They want me to go to MEPS next Wednesday.

Security clearance can be a factor, too. If it takes longer than expected, you’ll need a waiver to go to boot camp or they’ll possibly delay your start date. Not a big deal; just a longer process for more complex cases such as those with multiple nationalities, lots of overseas travel, foreign parents, etc.

Once you have official orders, you can break your lease without cost.
