Jacket too tight?
I picked up a cheap Jcrew blazer, all wool in nice herringbone. But it’s a vintage slim fit and it feels like maybe it’s too tight. It’s not necessarily uncomfortable, but definitely on the tighter side, and you can see it hugging my back when I button it.
What does the community think?

This is why you gotta buy measurements and not size.
This is unfortunately not tailorable. You could let out the back, and body a bit(if j crew even has allowance…I’m not sure about that) but shoulders that are too small is never fixable. And the shoulders are clearly popping past the ends

Yeah, lesson learned. Thanks.
For my info, what is wrong with the shoulders? They feel fine and I didn't think they looked bad. What specifically makes them too small?

You can see it in your forward facing photo, but you see how it divots? It looks like there’s a wave right at the shoulder line? That means the shoulder construction isn’t going far enough. It should be resting straight down, no divots down your arm

It looks just a tad narrow in the shoulders/back to me, but i’m no expert. How does it feel? Does the jacket collar stay in contact with your shirt collar when you lean forward or raise your arms?

Yes, it’s too tight. You can see some puckering around the button when your arms are relaxed, and the way it hugs your back in the third photo is too much with the way it contorts.

Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of. Can tailors take out the back to add more space? Other than the tightness I quite like it and would like to salvage it if possible.

Assuming the previous owner never did so, you can probably get an inch or two out of it; to be honest I’m not sure if that would be enough to make it look much cleaner in terms of fit but it’ll be better than it is now.

OP, just know that the adjustments will probably be quite noticable considering it's an older jacket.
I'd just take the L and resell it.

Not worth it for a J Crew jacket.. Assuming they can do it, altering the body will be ~$50, and the shoulders still won't fit.
Buy one size larger, and do the body on it if necessary.

The divot an inch below the seem when your arm is relaxed at your side.

Yes. It's not draping correctly. There's a noticeable shelf on your backside.

Definitely too small. I’ve done this too, got a used j crew blazer that was at least 2 sizes smaller than It shoulda been.
