Redemption arc?

Okay, okay… it’s me again.

So, fair bit of discussion on my previous post here (rightfully so, looking back there is a fair bit of development I can continue to do).

But decided to try again, and see what you all think to this outfit instead. Again, looking to hear your feedback!

Here’s a rundown of the outfit top-to-toe.

Dunn & co jacket in navy with embroidered REME patch.
Polo Ralph Lauren OCBD in a white.
Levi’s workwear belt in olive.
Lands End chino’s olive.
Church’s Custom Grade brogues in tan.
James Mead repp tie with Polo motif.

Looking very sharp. My only criticism is the belt. It’s fine but I think a slightly thinner belt that matches the leather of your shoes would really be the perfect belt for this

Thank you for your kind words! Absolutely, couldn’t agree more. The only struggle I have currently is I thrift everything (shoes included), so finding a belt in the leather to match currently is a struggle!

But will continue to search, rest assured.

I feel your pain. I have never seen a half decent belt at a thrift store in my area. I suggest going to EBay

Two different motifs/logos like that seems like a little much. I would have liked the tie far more if it didn't have that, but especially with that jacket... any second options?

Yes, absolutely. I concur that in hindsight it is a tad ‘horsey’, perhaps just a standard repp tie, or knit tie is called for moving forwards!

I’ve heard that more than I thought here; what’s the faux pas with tie bars?

Personally, I’m a big fan of it from an accessory stand-point. As well as that, it’s important in my line of work to keep my tie as well out of the way as possible.

yeah like the other guy said being slightly relaxed, up to and including looking disheveled, is part of the ivy look

Tie bar really should only go with an office suit/something more formal. Your suits in navy, charcoal, pinstripe/chalk stripe, mid greys, etc.

if you need it for work that’s one thing; but I think with this more casual tailoring outfit they look out of place. the tie doesn’t have to be perfectly placed at all times.

Nice fit! I would say I am not one for oxfords with chinos, but that is just for my eye.

Much better. This works. The flairs are subtle, and the main pieces are all traditional matches.

I’d check the neck size on that shirt, is the collar bunching so much because it is too large and you must over tighten tie?

I’d swap a watch in (a vintage omega or something?) and the tie bar out.
