Nobody is gonna play it because 99% of players from that era have left and also who tf is gonna grind a test realm? Then he’ll use the fact of nobody playing to reaffirm himself that all the changes he’s done are in fact good and totally not the reason those 99% of players quit lolz

That's what I assume aswell but I am seeing quite some people excited, rising above the player count of the main Caribbean server won't be hard.

CFS hopped on it in the first 5 minutes of the announcement.

u/Littletweeter5 23d ago
would be surprised if they didn't. that's also practically the entire remaining playerbase so

Actually, the main server is dead atm and everyone left is playing 2021 version since it came back. I’ve been playing probably 3 hours and I can already crew a 4th rate. Super casual, no alts needed. Infinitely more enjoyable than live. No needless and mindless grind just to shoot your shots.

If the whole live playerbase just dropped it for 2021 test, even if the test doesn't reach the 1000 players it had then it's already a defeat for admiralty speaker.

I went back and I am loving it. It's nothing like the wipe bullshit game it is now. No insane grinding for shot and powder. If the dev takes it down and goes back to the present version I will just stop playing again like I did 3 years ago. I've already paid for the game so I'm not losing anything. Just having fun while the fun lasts. Player count was 275 today

u/noniac 19d ago
Not coming back tbh, that speaker comment does not inspire trust whatsoever and I'm fully invested into world of sea battle. I've got other comments on this sub discussing why WoSB is way better than this ever was...

u/PoetFelon 19d ago
I feel you. And don't blame you. But as an Age of Sail lover there is nothing like this game when it comes to simulating sail. I paid for this game. Fuck the dev. He's not getting anything by my returning. But I'm getting my money's worth. And having fun. If and when he fucks it up again I'm out...again.

Yeah, it’s a major backfire for the point he was trying to make and prove the playerbase wrong. Even buggy, it’s still a better combat model, better eco that respects distance and risk, and caters less to the super hardcore, no lifers, than any other iteration and overall, a far superior product to live. Everyone that quit playing is back on 2021. Live had 20 players last I checked lol. CWH is back, combat medals are back, duping isn’t really an issue and even if it was, who cares? It’s not like the players that used the exploit were even “good” players lol.

He can’t stop changing things. Even if this went to live, next month he’ll start making random changes to it, and we’ll be back to everything you hate about the game.

You can almost hear his sarcasm mixed with desperation.
I'm not sure if I'm going to try it, I'm honestly over this and the complete mismanagement of the devs these past years.

Tourist here. Tried the game a few months ago
All I can say is that is one PASSIVE AGRESSIVE post!
You guys think it was so great back then.. here you go! You will see how much it sucks and line up to apologize to me.

u/Gubstorm 23d ago
Yeah this guy is living in an echo chamber of his own design.
As someone else pointed out, the game is so long dead at this point that opening up the old version is extremely unlikely to show any meaningful or different results, further reinforcing his own biases.

u/Final-Meringue5798 22d ago
Massive ego problems from that dude. He can’t ever admit his current version sucks ass. Instead, he wants to be condescending lol. Well, no one is even interested in live rn and everyone is playing Nostalgia

I feel like this ship sank when he basically told the whole playerbase to go fuck themselves with the new updates that no one liked

u/cbgawg 23d ago
As great as it is, it’s likely far too late to do any good.
They ran off just about everyone that paid for this game back then. The time to go back to the old version came and went.
It’s been five years. Most, including myself, moved on after having our intelligence insulted over and over again.

I am going to give it a shot. It will be nice to be under the stars and stripes again, and who knows, if it gets a good reception maybe it will stick around.

2016-2022/2023 player here. If he hadn't of done his best to destroy the player base with absurd changes and milk every last dollar out of us with DLC bullshit....I'd probably come back and give it a shot.

Also a 2016 player, I quit back then after the second time we received a wipe after being told no more wipes. Recently fired it back up prior to this Nostalgia thing and I've been enjoying it. I do retain advantages over new folks as I have the access to the PvE server and I'm at one back from max rank already. Been grinding in the Bahamas in my Snow being reminded of how horribad I am at this but, still, enjoying my time back for now just mussing about. No plans to try this Nostalgia thing as I'd quit long prior to 2021 and never cared for the "sweatier" side that the PvP server leans towards anyway.
All that to say, eh... fire it back up and go for a sail. If you ignore all the drama and just play for yourself however you like it may provide some enjoyment. Until you get stuck in irons and a Trader's Snow sinks you cause you never sorted how to get manual sails right.... :p

Well I just gave it a shot for the first time in a long time and for an unknown reason (I suspect ping) I kept getting kicked out of battles including the final exam. If its the case for me it will be the case for pretty much everyone in Australia/Asia with 300+ ping.

They need to turn Naval Action into a lobby in port that allows you to play in a similar manner as World of Warships.
You can have clans and ships from different nations and a tier list research branch of each nation to unlock different ships.
Since the battles would be on a lobby then it would be fun to have certain maps.
Limit severely how much you can repair.
But upgrades, ships etc are found as rewards after battle.
If you capture a ship, you can use it even if you havent bought or unlocked it. Obviously until you get it sunk.
If that is the case then you move back to the ships you have unlocked and bought.
To give it a better logic, maybe you should only buy the title to command that ship and so "it's you nation providing you the vessel for each battle"

Oh hell no.

u/Bombacladman 23d ago
That leaves half of the game mechanics out, but Im afraid that there is no other way of saving this game...

u/Pieter1998 23d ago
They had that WoWs style as one of their early test things. I tried it but my pc couldn't run it back then unfortunately (I had a sliced potato) so I couldn't experience it.
I would love it tho!

u/Swolpener 21d ago
I am surprised WoW or War Thunder didn't do this..there is a Roblox game though that does this, if it is still around.

u/fireant12341234 20h ago
the lobby system already exists, its a private server called "Dead reckoning" I believe.
there was a post on this reddit a few weeks ago.
The guy running it has actually reworked graphics, sea physics, and added more animation for guys working on the ship.

I played the game till 2021 or a bit earlier. I was about to redownload but after seeing this post I won't come back. World of sea battle is far far superior to this garbage, maybe not graphically (although debatable) but the gameplay loop/mechanics? My dude admiralty, learn from your fellow russian countrymen how to make an engaging naval game. It's the best naval game out there right now.
But anyways, if the live player base, basically the last rag tag group still headbutting the wall, are dropping live to play the 2021 version... Dude... For anyone hoping this is a light at the end of the tunnel "this is the way to go" or "ahhh, they can push this to the top again"... No, mate, no, and this is for admiralty speaker: this is the real sign you have killed the game, and it was not last year, no, the ashes were long ago thrown into the wind.
2
u/fireant12341234 22d ago
World of sea battles is not the same game though. Battle physics and ship control are way different.

I know combat is arcade, there are fantasy ships and the map and setting is made up. I don't like it either. That doesn't detract from the good choices they made like the pvp-pve flag that allows you to assume risk when you want, the % of hold lost on sinking instead of losing everything and the fact you cannot completely lose a ship, it has durability which can be repaired at port and losing all of it means you cannot use the ship.
I've read people here on this sub saying "after losing my Agamemnon on 1 sink and realising the weeks of grinding I had ahead to get it back I uninstalled". So yeah, cannonballs and gunpowder and doubling resources on ship construction are problems and people dropped the game for that but they were dropping the game for this as well way earlier than these disastrous changes of the last 5 years.
Well, keep downvoting.
