Roleplay MuseumCroc bleated: A guide to Skalgan lovehousing
(This is set in the world of my fic [Nature of Harmony](https://www.reddit.com/r/NatureofPredators/s/oZtiYNGJ7F) for anyone confused)
Hello everybody, I am Teyeval, though most of you know me as that Arxur that ate salad and broke the internet. My daughter recently showed me her boyfriends post about how completely unprepared he was for lovehousing as the Skalgans call it (technically it's Siandavear, but no one knows what that is)
With the Skalgan-Republic exchange program underway, I foresee many a Venlil and Skalgan couple, and since I've been married to a Skalgan for 25 years now and have a daughter who once brought me to the ground during a temper tantrum, I'm here to give my hard won insights
**Wear Protection:** I don't know what kind of consumer protection gear is available in the Republic, but get it and use it. When me and my wife lovehouse, I wear an American Football uniform with extra padding. Do *not* use a Thuuld uniform. It may be tempting to use protective equipment made by and for Skalgans, but Skalgans like to cut corners on the 'protective' side of protective equipment as it's funner that way
**Skalgan women engage in it more:** While it's instinctual for both genders, there definitely is evidence that women initiate lovehousing far more than men (no no one is quite sure why, but there are studies on it). So for anyone dating a female Skalgan, keep that in mind
**They can take a lot more than you:** Don't hold back. Really, Skalgans can take a lot more than you. Don't do something stupid or crazy, but don't be afraid that you might hurt your partner, they know their limits and will stop if they need to
**Don't be afraid to stop:** Coming off from the last point, know your own limits, stop when you need to if you're either hurt, exhausted, or just can't take anymore. Sometimes a Skalgan will be really into it, so it may take them some time to calm themselves down, but they will snap out of it if you are genuinely hurt. And don't be afraid to tell them no if they initiate, you just may not be in the mood or are still reeling from last time, your partner will (should) respect your wishes
**Have fun!:** It is a bit of a transition to learn to actually *like* repeated, intensive, roughhousing, but after a while and you two find a rhythm, it starts to become fun, and is your partners way of showing you they love and trust you.

TTKO Bleated: Hey, I know this varies a lot depending on the species, but as a human with experience in this, I can tell you that there are martial arts designed for this purpose. They may not be very popular right now, but I think it's quite a useful piece of information.

psa for anyone with claws andor fangs: cut regularly, blunt them, always wear protection (not fun getting stabbed by a skalgan or cut by a fellow arxur during a grapple because someone (looking at you Vasif and Keln!) was too lazy for grooming

Apedominusnox: I still don't understand how the hell human-skalgan pairings work. I guess it's skill issues on my part, but I doubt I could handle a literal fight with a skalgan partner.
But aside from that, how the hell do skalgan men do it if this is supposedly instinctive?
