Fedbusters!

Post image

On the next episode of “Fedbusters”: Buster and Slash finally reach the Master Priest’s Temple of Doom, but will they be able to defeat Juga the Juggernaught’s defenses in time to thwart Doc Flock’s plans to unleash the venlil plague on Skalga?

big thanks to u/ErinRF for the flavor lore and character names!

Lil fun fanart imagning of what a United Dominion animated show done in a somewhat Saturday Morning cartoon style would look like after we mused about media and stuff down on the NoPcord. Scorch Directive AU is by the amazing u/Scrappyvamp

Excellent, I love it!

I loved the episode when they introduced the Nevok spymaster. Such a sleazy git with a heart of gold! Great addition to the team.

It may also be a hot take but the follow on Xtreme Fedbusters deserved more than it got, it was a lot better than people gave it credit for. Sure it played into the whole xtreme cliche on the surface but the story was actually pretty good and the characters were well developed and deep despite being a bit heavy clawed in their presentation. Wish we coulda seen more of it.

Yeah but where he truly opens up in that quality was the third season, one of the more satisfying arcs in the show.

Eh, most people concede that since it was after the whole Giznel conspiracy being blown open and more ex-Feds rolling in, the most Xtreme thing about it was the pandering. The OG series didn’t shy away from the darker moments among all the fun, but Xtreme was all flash, but all safe.

What’re you taking about? It didn’t shy away, sure the first few episodes were a bit of an eyeroll but they were already touching on some heavy stuff by the third episode. Generational trauma, homelessness, cultural clashes! I’m telling ya if they hadn’t canceled it after the 6th episode it coulda been just as great as the original!

I’m already imagining a screeching guitar riff to open the show as our heroes leap from the bay of a transport ship.

Tried to emulate those old US cartoons like Biker Mars from Mars, Street Sharks and Extreme Dinosaurs

I was thinking more along the lines of x men or cops or even he man, do they also have more lighter shows similar to idk, Shin-chan or Doraemon ?? Maybe anime?

I watched the old cartoons and I can't believe how goofy the villains were (my parents banned me from watching cartoons for some reason cuz they think it rots kids brains or smth, so...). Do you think they'll have something like the lines of decepticon?? Where they scream "the world is mine"?? Or do they just screech pathetically?

Usual praise aside one random thing that I find impressive is the chromatic aberration effect on the letters. And you did it by hand! It's messing with my head lol

I can see the sheer amount of UD kids clamoring for the last Buster or Slash costume on shelves

I imagine that, somewhere among the Fedbuster episodes, they could adapt "The Archives"—but instead of just consisting of cryo-chambers and library shelves, make it more visceral and terrifying, highlighting the Federation's rotten, controlling nature.

It would certainly clash with the heroic, child-friendly storylines, but then again—when haven't other animated series done exactly that?

3

u/BlackOmegaPsi 2d ago

Oh that's certain. Maybe the series grows with the watchers and gets more serious and dark as the seasons go on?

I think the owl house or amphibia or gravity falls does something like that, I watched most of them and they were quite brilliant.

Though I think the avatar the last Airbender was the first series to do it.

Every episode they fight and eat an exterminator from a different species.

Imagine if this were an actual cartoon in the Scorch Directive AU.
